I hate the new Iraqi flag
Why did we change their flag? This is like ethnic cleansing. They are changing their society. The flag was there before Saddam and now we go there and change it? I am disgusted by this. It is arrogant and unnecessary.

Just take Saddams changes out of this flag.

1. It is like ethnic cleansing
" . . . trophies obtained by the bloodstained steel, or the tattered flags of the tented field, will never be envied. The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government."

-Thomas Jefferson

3. Arabs like dark bold colors in their flag
So not only did the CPA take away the Iraqi flag, they slapped Iraqis in the face giving them this pale pansy one.

4. Saddam's changes come from the Holy Qur'an: God is Great!
Ask a Muslim to take that off from a flag!

This is like having our flag replaced by a rag that has no red, white, and blue, together with taking "God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance and the currency. How would most Americans react to such action by a foreign occupier?

7. Unbelievable

I find it hard to believe that anyone in the administration or the IGC would be unconscious of the significance of removing the traditional Arab colors from the Iraqi flag. This travesty puts to rest any doubts one could've had about the true intentions of the war and, more generally, the American policy in the Middle East. For all the talk of radical Islam forcefully exporting its intolerance to non-Muslim faiths and cultures, it is our elected officials who are single-handedly responsible for lighting the fuse of a totally unwarranted clash of civilizations.

I simply cannot fathom how anyone can perceive this latest colonial action as anything but an open, shameless attack on Arab history, national pride and hopes for a future free from Western colonial oppression. The belief among politicians of both parties that the "Arab street" would somehow fail to correctly interpret these events as a fight for the very survival of Arab identity beggars belief.

At this point, it really doesn't matter how soft the gloves are on our hands in Iraq. Our intentions are too obvious for tactics and talk to matter anymore.

The origins and importance of the Black, White, Red and Green colors.

Did everyone enjoy the new super achievement of our great governing council?
We have a pale new flag!
Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
And guess what... the new flag has an interesting collage too: a sign for Muslims, a sign for Kurds, a sign for the two rivers and a sign for me smiling :*)

12. You have something in common with the vast majority of Iraqis
It is, on its roll-out day - almost universally despised within Iraq. Another stroke of genius by the CPA. Now, anybody who wants a fool-proof way of gaining sympathy for an anti-occupation action need only show the old Iraqi flag. It's like Bremer and his crew are mentally defective, each action stupider than the one before.
