Back from DC after 20 hrs on the bus
The march was amazing and heartening. We left for DC Friday evening about 7pm and arrived Saturday evening also about 7pm. Twenty-three hours on a bus. Sunday AM we took the metro down to the mall and enjoyed the crowd.

I loved the fact that most of the protesters were young women under 30. Their energy and passion was inspiring. I'll be 50 next month and was concerned that young women today took reproductive rights for granted. Well, these girls took nothing for granted and took crap from nobody...like the anti-choice protesters. They danced and chanted with their leopard print leggings and their little pink bandannas. It was a beautiful thing to see.

I also loved being in a crowd of 1 million were everybody despised Bush. It didn't matter if they were young or old, male or female. The overwhelming sentiment was that Bush had to go. It created such energy and gave me hope for November.

Then, back to the bus for another long drive. This time we gained a couple of hours because our two busses split up and we didn't have 70 women trying to use the bathroom at the food marts along the way at the same time. We made it back in 20 hrs. I'm just finishing up a medicinal glass of wine, then plan on soaking in a hot tub and going to bed...at 7:00 in the evening.

Hope everyone else who went makes it back safely. And also I want to tell everyone who wasn't able to go that it was even better then it looked like on TV.

3. Excellent!
I would like to express my appreciation for being a representative for the many millions who could not be in Washington to express our support for choice. Thank you!

5. Kansas City
But we had people on the bus from Kansas and Missouri. We made several stops along the way to pick up more folks.

9. Harper, Thanks for this report. I was glad to see the reports of many
new "under 30 somethings" there. I like you was worried that no one cared in that group anymore. Even in the 30'somethings!

It was wonderful to see you all and to think that you spent 20 hours on
the bus to do it! The pictures of that mall totally filled with vibrant folks all fighting to preserve our rights to our bodies was wonderful.

Thank you from all of us who couldn't be there!

:-)'s and a big :toast: to you!

10. We made it home in 11 hours
I don't envy you the additional 9.

I'm still exhausted and sore but proud of myself and the million other people who took part in this event!

Hope you slept well last night. My head hit the pillow and that was it! :)

11. Thanks
I was there too and agree with you -- the young women ROCKED (I'll be 49 next month, so you and I are practically twins ;) They started most of the chants and songs, and some had painted their pro-choice sentiments on their arms and backs. Didja love "Show us what democracy looks like! This is what democracy looks like!"

I feel for you for the long bus ride, we were very piggy and took a plane ride from Florida. ;-)
