Insight into why (some of us) hate Bush so much...?
Your Mistake, My Mistake-All the Same to the Brain

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Why is it so annoying to watch someone else make a mistake? Maybe because it affects the same areas of the brain as when a person makes his or her own mistake, Dutch researchers said on Monday.

Experiments in which volunteers tried a computer task and then watched each other do the same thing showed the brain reacted in a similar way whether the observer made the mistake, or watched someone else make it.

2. Sheesh, especially when you know the right thing to do
I get physically uncomfortable and embarrassed watching * speak. That explains it a bit.

Also, there was a story about a week ago regarding an experiment scanning the brains of liberals and conservatives while watching political ads...the interesting thing was torward the end of the article, when it said that the main difference between the two was that liberals had a stronger reaction to images of violence. Personally, I'm proud of that.

3. Perfectly stated
"I get physically uncomfortable and embarrassed watching * speak. That explains it a bit."

Same here. Any time he tries to say anything inspiring, my gut heaves. He's actually more tolerable when he says dumbass things in his uneducated style than he is when trying to sound serious and important.

Then, of course, there are his dumbass policies and the face that he shouldn't be holding the job to begin with, but I digress :)

17. lol
well, I hate Bush for all those reasons. To say that his f-ups are mistakes is very generious. I guess this article intrigued me because it lets me know that there is a physiological component to my hatred--its not all irrational!!

5. I wouldn't hate Bush because he made a mistake.
Bush is doing what his keepers want him to do. They know what they are doing and it is no mistake that they have taken us where we are.

I don't hate Bush I hate what the right is doing to the America I use to know. I hate to see our middle class shrink away. I hate to see Medicare and Security go away because ideologues are in control of the government. I hate to see the lives of our children being sacrificed in battle so that the rich ruling class becomes richer.

I hate this administration and everything it stands for. What they are doing is no mistake it is intentional.

14. Ya know....
I used to think he was just a puppet, but now he looks more dangerous than that. He believes he is on a mission from God, and I'm not sure even his handlers could disuade him from that delusion. And *Bush believes he hasn't made mistakes and even if he did, he'd just keep making them and call it, "staying the course."

I am mystified as to why people confuse stubbornly continuing to make stupid mistakes with "strong leadership!"

6. Only BushCo supporters put forth questions such as this
Articles such as these are put out there to tell the general public that if you do not support BushCo, you are a hater.

18. Not really
I really don't see the connection.

I actually do hate Bush. I know thats a strong and harsh statement, but I hate him because he has destroyed my faith in this country.

21. During the Clinton years did you see even one article questioning
why the GOP were haters? No.

The articles all questioned the motives behind the attacks, but did not label the GOP.

But now the GOP is not questioning our motives, they have determined what our motive is and are now telling us what our motive is and it is hate and we are haters.

9. We hate Bush because HE'S hateful
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 11:21 AM by rocknation
He does hateful things, and for the most hateful of reasons: he hates anything and anyone that stands between him and what he wants.

But to listen to the right wing, you'd think that "Bush hate" has no basis in reality, no symptoms. People are hating him either for the fun of it, or have "had it in" for him since The Selection. It's as mysterious and indulgent as spring fever--except that cause of spring fever can be traced to springtime. Well, Bush Hate very much has a cause, and whoever can't see the symptoms just aren't looking for them.

11. You were just called a hater by this question. And by answering
you just agreed to that label.

This is a tactic BushCo uses to label us.

24. I'm PROUD to be called a Bush hater--why shouldn't I be?
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 10:14 AM by rocknation
What I DON'T like is having my hate trivialized down to an irrational, baseless disease. And when you say "You're just a hater" you're really saying, "Your hatred is so legit, the ONLY way I can refute it is to trivialize it." It's bad enough that they're trying to legislate your morals and your sex life--NOW they're coming after your feelings, too!

13. That's right. Look at why the right hates the Clintons so much
And for what? A minor land deal that went sour, a regrettable but PRIVATE affair between consenting adults and... I can't think of any actual wrongdoings beyond that.
With *, there are actual scandals, starting with the Florida election grab, right through to the Iraq debacle, with plenty of documentation, confirmations and TESTIMONY.
The RW should and probably does thank its lucky stars that it controls Congress and the ability to impeach, because there is more than ample justification if based on the standards of impeaching Clinton.

10. An intense and genuine dislike because
I served 24 years - he deserted

I place an incredible amount of value on members of the armed services - he uses them as pawns to promote his political agenda

I invest in the stockmarket - he profited from insider trading ripping off investors

I'm a Christian because off strongly held personal beliefs which have nothing to do with politics - he says he is a christian only to get dumbasses to vote for him

I know that honesty is the best policy - he lies with impunity because lies are the basis of his life

I have 16+ years of education and most of the time it shows - he ?

Sure, if you don't support the president, there must be something wrong with you that can be detected by a CAT scan.

Right.

16. Have they tried doing brain scans on people who are being
fucked in the ass? Pardon the expression, but that's a more apt comparison.

The Bush administration's problems have little to do with "mistakes" and alot to do with fucked up priorities, greed, and a complete lack of morality.

20. Clarifications are in order!
1) I asked the question in a somewhat joking fashion. Everyone who pays attention has millions of reasons to hate or dislike Bush. This article brings attention the the fact that feelings are more than just mental, they actually affect the way our bodies function! Please stop labelling me as a BushCo supporter. That could not be further from the truth.

23. You are right
The question is a BushCo psych-op question. And by posting it, it did raise questions.

And you are right again, the feelings we have about what is at stake this November are so intense it has a physical effect on many of us.

Sorry for raising questions about your motives in posting this thread, but I feel very strongly about the issue that the GOP has labeled us as haters. We should not fall for their game.

They play the labeling game all too well.
