US out, UN in
That a young cleric hothead will go for this option makes it very realistic, IMO.

Sadr also indicated through his spokesman that he favoured the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force in Iraq “on condition that it be made up of Muslim countries or countries which did not join the occupation of Iraq such as Russia, France or Germany”.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Sadr has called for the sending of UN peacekeeping troops to Iraq and demanded the immediate withdrawal of US-led occupation forces.

"It is in the interest of the whole world to send peacekeeping forces under the UN flag," Qais al-Khazaali, who is spokesman for Sadr's Mehdi Army militia, said in an interview with Bulgarian television.

" the occupation forces must withdraw from the occupied regions and must release political prisoners. The war will thus end."

2. Honestly, I see no reason why the UN would want to go in and
clean up our mess. I think people who are expecting the UN to solve all our Iraq problems are in for a big let-down.

5. Actually
I think people who are expecting the U.N. to solve ANY problem, ours or anyone elses, are in for a big let-down. Look at the situation in Sudan, for example. Or North Korea. Or Afghanistan (even pre-9/11). Or Rwanda. Or Bosnia.

4. Agree, but my preference is US OUT! Let Iraqi's rebuild on their own
without our interference.

6. U.S. has no intention of leaving Iraq . . . ever . . .
hell, we're building the biggest embassy in the world in Baghdad, with offices for 3,000 . . . we went into Iraq for the oil and to establish a permanent presence in the region (and a springboard to other invasions, e.g. Syria, Iran, etc.) . . . now that we have both, we're not about to give them up . . . as long as Bush is in office (and probably even if Kerry get elected), any talk of the U.S. pulling out of Iraq is fantasy . . . ain't gonna happen . . .
