Did Ashcroft's DoJ tie hands of FBI, making 9/11 possible???

If local Wisconsin FBI officials would have been given a warrant (FISA) to check the 21st hijacker's (Z. Moussaoui) computer, would they have discovered the 9/11 plot weeks before planes dove into the World Trade Towers???? Is the blame directly attributable to policies created by Ashcroft?

Rowley memo came out, the Lehey committee would have had a much harder time explaining away that and the Phoenix memos. As it is, the administration relies on the fact that two years separate the leaks and that only a few will put one and one together.

And add to that the fact that two known al Qaeda members were allowed to roam the country free, and I don't see how at least a Players Got Played scenario isn't seriously discussed anywhere but here and a few other websites.

However, I'm told that in Europe, things are different...

5. It's hard to place ALL the blame for 911 ...

on one cause ...

Watching Frontline's "The Man Who Knew" last night, I was struck by Louis Freeh's and Tom Pickard's naive ignorance of the danger of Al Qaeda and OBL ... Their collective antagonism of John O'Neill and O'Neill's claim that Al Qaeda and OBL had a considerable network of co-operatives in the US was quite disturbing ...

MUCH of their mistreatment of O'Neill occurred prior to 2001 ...

I am dumbfounded by their wrong-headed interference with critical investigations of potentially dangerous enemies: all because they didnt like his style ....

The behaviour of Amb. Barbara Bodine was particularly reprehensible ... She AND Freeh worked hard to stifle the NY office and undercut O'Neill, which left the US anti-terrorism effort woefully underpowered and understaffed .... and without an Al Qaeda specialist when they (we) needed them most ... (Except, of course, for Richard Clarke, who was emasculated by the WH ... ) ....

We have to admit ; lots of blame can be placed on Freeh and others before the Bush WH came to power ... But Ashcroft's and the Bush WH's malfeasance in the face of disaster was the icing on the cake ....

ALL they wanted was for everyone to just shut up about Al Qaeda already ...

I also was reminded of one event: the threat from the WH to the Taliban about 'carpets of gold' and 'carpets of bombs' .... it was early August when that supposedly occurred; which is about the same time that the primaries involved; Clarke, O'Neill and CIA, began to notice a 'change in the chatter' ... O'Neill AND Clarke knew it was coming .... Yet they were marginalized ....

Pretty fuckin sad .....
