I don't know how we go about it, but it's time to boycott CNN...
We're mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore.

CNN has become intolerable. We must organize to get THEM before they get US. What they did to Gore in 2000, they are doing tenfold to Kerry.

They are listening to Rove to "define" Kerry. We must "define" CNN by no longer watching them. Get their ratings down to the vanishing point.

For starters, we should use the Net to spread the word. I have not watched CNN more than 20 hours over the last two years. A little Larry King, mostly.

Now I am ready to stop watching 100%. And if millions of Dems, Indies and disgusted Republicans join in, even if just for one month, we can truly hit them where it hurts - in the ratings.

Another benefit to this is we can at the same time move millions to the Net - DU, Buzzflash, Democrats.com, etc.

If there is truly an historic Dump Bushco movement out there, let's organize a simple boycott of CNN.

We can leave Fox alone, for now. At least they are consistent in their Bushaganda. They have their freeping following.

CNN pretends to be what it's not: a world-class, unbiased news organization. It's time to put CNN out of its misery.

Here's a rallying cry:
I get my news on the Net. Shouldn't you?

2. I stopped watching long ago.

But I agree we need to make it an issue.

Howard Dean is laying the groundwork on this, and the Station that Gore wants to buy should help.

Basically we need to purchase our own channel and counter the lies and spin.

to save my sanity.

However...
I still send in complaints for the sheer satisfaction of it. }(

5. Boycotts won't work.
Mocking and humiliating them will. The Michael Moore approach gets more support.

16. They might pay more attention
if you snail mail. I've sent letters but I don't think they care much for what Canadians think.

7. Have you joined in the Massive DU E-Mail Campaign to CNN, up now
here on DU? We need every person we can get of our over 40,000 DU Subscribers to send an e-mail to CNN.

Boycotting isn't enough. E-Mailing isn't enough. Phoning is the next step.

Go over and send them an e-mail, PLEASE!

Every now and then I'll peek. Boycott products advertised on CNN instead, and let the advertiser know about your views. We can threaten to get every member here to boycott all products advertised on CNN!

9. I love your passion, but based on 20 hrs out of 8,760 hrs in 2 yrs?
And most of those Larry King?

You want to dump Bushco, do something for the Democratic party in your district, your state...

Do something to counter the CNN crap you've never seen...write letters to the editor (one of the most read sections in any paper after the obits go figure)....

Encourage co-workers to register if they haven't.

Donate to a Dem candidate if you have the funds.

And, contact your representatives about your interests.

Thanks, pinto.

10. I quit officially today
I can usually muddle through it, but Judy Woodruff said something today and that was the end. Switched it off. Bye bye. But I still say we need an organized email effort that goes out when they do something particularly horrific and then we all call in and tie up the switchboards. I don't think anything else will really work.

18. We need a specific DAY and TIME
To flood the switchboards, send emails and fill the snail mail rooms. Organize and get some publicity on this! Look at the outpouring of publicity from the right about Janet's boob. Agree on a date, circulate emails to DNC and other orgs, then do it!

14. I already wrote them a couple of weeks ago that they are
off in my household. (Actually I did turn it on to hear Wes Clark last night). I used to write to them whenever they went over the line now I feel better with them off. I have gotten two other households to stop watching and write to them also. As far as a boycott wouldn't it be better to target one or two sponsors at a time? It would put the rest on notice. Who are their sponsors anyway? They are competing with Faux and it's in their own interest to pander to the left, the Faux watchers aren't going to switch allegience. This could work cause they will end up without anyone.

I refuse to pay for this crap since there is a chance that one penny of my money might find its way into the coffers of Fox or CNN.

17. Easy...
You write to the sponsors and tell them you aren't going to buy their products as long as they continue to sponsor ... the uneven treatment of the candidates, for instance. You get a few hundred other people to do the same thing.

Set up a website, if you know how to do that. See if you can URL it as CNN.org or CNN.us Tell all your friends to link to it.

Word spreads. For every letter the sponsors get, they know statistically that about 20 other people feel the same way but won't bother to write.

OR, if you happen to have the skills, tell CNN that you'll offer your services as a consultant to help make their news more balanced and relevant. Sometimes, it's like Lyndon Johnson said so inelegantly... for CNN it might seem better to have you on the inside peeing out than on the outside peeing in.

Or maybe you'd rather just complain on the internet, eh?

20. Any network that would keep Too-Much Candy COWley
on air just doesn't care any more. It's like the Washington Times to the Moonies, or NBC to GE, run at a loss just for the sake of corporate progapanda value.

23. Extension cords.
Here's how I figure it... a big TV operation like CNN must have lots of extension cords. So, we all take tours every day and "trip" over the extension cords. They'll spend so much time plugging them back in, they'll have to pull Wolf off the set to help figure out which cords go where.

It won't be a problem at all for me to give up CNN.

Let's see, I'll miss Wolf Blitzer...Candy Crowley...Bill Schneider...Tucker Carlson.

Yep, no problem for me to give all of that up.
