6. actually, it WAS about vietnam
the storyline was set in korea, but it was actually very much about the vietnam.

The author of MASH was a Dr. that lived in Maine...my Uncle knew the guy, on a professional basis.

I found this blurb-

Twentieth Century Fox had received a screenplay from blacklisted writer Ring Lardner, Jr., adapting Richard Hooker's novel MASH, an anti-war comedy based on his own experiences as a surgeon in the Korean War. MASH was published in 1968, when its anti-authoritarian tone was more in keeping with the national mood than it would have been in the early 1950s.

He wrote a bunch os MASH serials.....I liked his "MASH in Maine" book the best.

I see the point you're making...it was a huge movie hit at the height of VietNam. Easy to make the association.
