Perceptions of US Troop Fatalities Having Little Impact on Support for War

Perceptions of World Public Opinion Appear Highly Influential

For Release: 9:00 AM, Thursday, April 22

College Park, MD: According to a new PIPA/Knowledge Networks poll, a majority of
Americans (57%) continue to believe that before the war Iraq was providing substantial
support to al Qaeda, including 20% who believe that Iraq was directly involved in the
September 11 attacks. Forty-five percent believe that evidence that Iraq was supporting
al Qaeda has been found. Sixty percent believe that just before the war Iraq either had
weapons of mass destruction (38%) or a major program for developing them (22%).

The results go on and are pretty impressive as far as influence on perceptions alone. Then going into facts and it's overall impact on the Presidential election is astounding.

If you read the entire report (not long) you will find these two links:

1. They are misinformed thanks to lack of education
Fox news, and refusal to come to terms with the fact that they were wrong. The latter part says a lot. Refusal to accept the fact that they were lied to, and refusal to look in the mirror at themselves.
They were brainwashed by the propoganda, plain and simple. Its got to be pretty embarassing to admit that to yourself.

2. I believe that this could possibly be the saddest thing
about the United States today. The willful, widespread ignorance of basic facts, I mean FACTS, for the sake of justifying an illegal war is one of the worst things a country's people can possibly do.

3. because the media keeps referring to the Iraq war as "the war on terror"
the media has failed this country.

They should all be fired.

4. aaaah fcuk em!! Let em' go ahead and believe it.
Maybe they will sleep better in their self-imposed and pursued with a vigor ignorance. You can only do so much to inform people. If they make a concious effort to deny the facts then they deserve the consequences.

5. Well
does America exist anymore? Doesn't feel like it. No critical thought, intelligence, nor humanity that I see out there. They follow their dogma and party leaders bindly. They think they know what freeedom is, but such lack of freedom of the mind indicates many don't have a clue. They think freedom is making some $.

6. Thats OK
Fuck those idiots

We will reap what we sow, I find comfort in the fact that Americans will reap what they sow

If the fox came and killed my chickens, and I ignored the threat and put up a coyote deterant...then when the fox comes back to kill...I deserve what is coming, I ignored the threat and will reap what I sow

Americans will pay for their reckless decisions and radical views, the next terror attack will not sadden me one bit, I realize that things will get far worse before they get better

We deserve what is coming

8. it's AMAZINGLY easy to brainwash millions of people
it appears that simple repetition of lies is all it takes. make them feel they are part of a superior group, and give them their talking points every day on rush. simply saying 'weapons of mass destruction' millions of times is all it takes to invade a country and kill tens of thousands.

it's not hard to do. bush made speeches that simply had 9-11 and saddam hussein IN THE SAME SENTENCE, not really saying he did 9-11, just inferring it by having the two concepts in the same sentence.

frighteningly simple

9. Most Americans would still believe the Spanish blew up the Maine
if they even knew what the hell I was talking about here.

"What...them socialist Spainians blew one of our states?!"
