They must have figured that it would sell fewer copies if the wingnuts endorsed it. Also, it's the only recent book that makes * out to be a hands-on president and not a doofus. To them, that's a plus, I guess. Besides, how many times can they use their search and destroy methods on authors?

5. I still get a kick out of Watts being elected chair

of the House Republican Caucus in the post-Newt Gingrich era, replacing John Boehner of Ohio. Why do you suppose that is? If you remember, that was the time when everybody's sex life was under a microscope, beginning with Robert Livingston, who was originally supposed to have replaced Gingrich as House Speaker. Then, Henry Hyde, Dan Burton and a number of other prominent Republicans confessed that they had extramarital affairs or sired children out of wedlock. During that time, Larry Flynt of Hustler magazine fame, claimed to have the goods on a number of prominent members of the House. Boehner, of suburban Cincinnati, had a reputation among colleagues in his days as a state legislator as being quite the playboy.

So, Boehner is out as Caucus chair, and Watts is in. Why? I speculate it's because he's a clergyman in the Baptist church and had a squeaky clean image compared to the other bed-hoppers among House Republicans.
