Rangel Calls Treasury's 'Tax Day Reminders' Campaign Statements
This story is by way of a link on Al Franken's "O'Franken Factor" page (http://www.airamericaradio.com/bin/blogExcerpts.cfm?blogId=1&prg=3), and it will be the subject of discussion this morning.

It is in reference to a press release from the Treasury Department ("April 15th Tax Day Reminder: Treasury and IRS Work To Make Paying Taxes A Little Easier") which quotes Bush tax cut rhetoric from the Republican National Committee's website.

"In an April 14 letter to acting Treasury Inspector General Dennis Schindel, Rangel said the releases are “Bush campaign statements masqueraded as news releases” and called for an investigation into a potential misuse of government resources for political purpose.

“The content of these press releases does not disguise the real purpose behind their issuance -- election-year campaigning for President Bush,” Rangel said. “This is an affront to the American public, particularly to the millions of American taxpayers required to file their tax returns tomorrow, as required by law.”
