Informal Bush Poll
My wife and I together have recently been informally "polling" people we know about Bush and the war. This is very unscientific but makes me wonder who out there is really supporting the chimp administration:

- My close work associates, 6 vehement anti-Bush, 1 pro-Bush, 1 Gulf War 1 vet just shakes his head about Gulf War 2.

- Out of close friends, 1 possible Bush supporter. One who works for Department of Defense says Bush is an "idiot". More than a dozen others AGAINST.

- Wife's garden club, NOBODY pro-Bush (out of about 15)

- Wife's Spanish class, NOBODY pro-Bush, maybe 2-3 undecided, out of 11.

- Family and extended family, out of about 15 that we talk to most often, 2 or 3 pro-Bush, 12 fanatically AGAINST. Four of these live in Oklahoma, two in Texas.

- 10 nearest neighbors, 2 possible Bush supporters, all others AGAINST.

Just a quick snapshot.

Our legislative district has gone Republican (moderate) for the last ten years.

1. where do you live?
You don't need to be specific, but "small town" "big city", general geographic area would help.

I'm in Houston... and most people I come in contact with are probably Repug... but most I hang with are lib.

7. Tigard, Oregon
just outside of Portland.

Ok, this is really the "left coast" and yet our State Senate is split, our State House is Repug, and our Gov. is "Lieberman Democrat".

There are a goodly number of wingnuts in this state. Oregon came fearfully close to "going red" in 2000.

But out unemployment is highest in the nation. Big state budget deficit. Lot of software workers here, won't be enchanted with sending jobs to India. Lot of gun nuts, won't be too worried about Dean probably.

All the older people here who used to worry about "tax and spend" are starting to worry more about "war and Ashcroft".

2. Around my 'hood we're kinda split
but I did notice that those with higher incomes are more supportive of Bush. All my friends who have lost their jobs seem to really dislike him.

4. Yes I would love to move to where you live.
But I do believe you are right,
even Republicans are turning their backs on him.

5. I conducted a similar informal poll at my work
I work with 40 cops (whom you'd expect to be Repuglicans), all with at least Bachelor's degrees. Maybe, MAYBE 10 were pro-Bush. Most of the ones are veterans are/were against GW2 (that's Gulf War 2, not George Dubya 2).

One girl I worked with is in the reserves. As she packed up her desk last winter to go to Kuwait, she spent an hour loudly repeating, "This is BULLSHIT! This is such BULLSHIT! Weapons of mass destruction my ass!"

I live in a fairly conservative state (it's the green one on the left).

6. here's another one
On the way home on the plane tonight, my husband said a woman got on at the stopover in TX. He said that after they'd exchanged the usual pleasantries she began ranting about bush, LOL.

He told her she was preaching to the choir and that he gets plenty of bush rants at home every night.
