The DLC et al. are desperate for an "Anti-Dean"
FOr th last few days, I've been hearing on the news talk of an "anti-Dean" movement among DLCers. And the rw spin-meisters have been trying to paint news of Gore "reconsidering" running, as out of desperation from the DLC to stop Dean. THe problem with this is that it would create an ideologically-split (in the eyes of the media anyway) primary. And if Dean loses, Nader could exploit frustration among Deanies by tapping into the same "anti Bush-Lite" rhetoric as Dean. If Dean has any competition in the primary (my bet would be Clark, with Kerry a distant second) I would strongly suggest that his opponent distance himself from DLCers, while at the same time appealing to the center in a way that doesn't turn off the base. We cannot afford 70,000 people switching to "Nader '04" Meetups.

1. What annoys me
about the anti-Dean movement is that they want to counter his success with the people. It just shows that the DLC has no interest in what the people want. I'm not saying that Dean already has the nomination, but if he does get it, this type of thinking by the DLC worries me that they're going to screw over the rightful winner of the nomination for who they want. Thats no more democratic than selection 2000.

3. This is a hope I have.
I love all them people on what some would call the left of Dean. Them people at DLC don't know what they are messing with. The more they oppose him, the better he will do. Al, Carol and Howard should be giving each other High Fives. To the people who think this is anything other than a debate about us ordinary Janes and Joes, I am sorry you missed it.

4. Republicans are being encouraged to support Dean
Edited on Wed Aug-06-03 12:20 AM by shatoga
why?

Because Dean is a stalking horse for Bush and Republicans
who only fear
Al Gore

The guy who already got more votes than Bush in 2000.

The guy who would be president if we'd had an honest vote count.

The one person who could easily defeat George Bush in 2004.

No wonder Republicans and their DLC fellow travelers are backing 'anyone but Gore'.

Lose with Dean or win with Gore.

Your choice.

Serve the RNC to re-elect Bush or serve America and elect President Gore four years past his first victory!

Choose.
serve the RNC Dean et-al nothings who will lose to Bush

or Serve America and support / write-in/ Al Gore
and victory for Democrats and America in 04.

choose.
Republican 'faux' candidates and victory for Bush
or
Al Gore and victory for America and Democrats.

Choose!

Like Naderites choose Bush in 2000,
and give up everything you ever claimed to believe in.
or;

Choose America and Gore for victory!

Victory for the environment, for the people
for the constitution!

Victory for America!

6. It's more than one group that's gunning for Dean
Not just the DLC, but the DC beltway crowd, the politcally connected and the "liberal media." The same groups that were happy to go along with the notion that Bush is a moderate in the 2000 campaign. The same groups that would show up on the cable talkshows for the 2000 election and make catty remarks about Gore reinventing himself...I guess they forgot that they were on his side. The same groups that told us to give Daschle a chance as majority leader because he would quietly outsmart the GOP at every move.

The thing is, that their bullshit doesn't cut it anymore. We've had enough. I personally can find NO reason to support any Democratic candidate running for President that has been in the Congress over the past three years. As far as I'm concerned, they did not have any reason to be supportive of Bush from day 1. I knew he was a thieving, lying bastard before he stole the office so why didn't they?

I understand your angst about all the anti-dean crap that you see everywhere but don't sweat it. This is a real movement and the only way that he "possibly" gets derailed is if Clark gets into the race.
