First and most importantly remember that Rush's freedom is at stake if he starts to tell the truth. Any normal felon would have been prosecuted for serial transactions to avoid the reporting requirements re. cash transactions of 10k or more. The feds likely would have also found some tax fraud issues since Rush paid his maid cash for the drugs at least in part to help her avoid income tax. The fact that he is a prisoner of his lies should make us feel sorry for the coward, but he doesn't want our sympathy so we won't give him any..
Second of all, since the truth would mean incarceration for him recovery is impossible. It would have been a real challenge considering the severity of his addiction, his age and his cowardice, but without honesty it is impossible.
That said, the more times he mentions us the better. Does anyone know what he said today? Did he spell our name right?
