4. J Paul Jim Bob Bremer
flys way under the radar when he's not shutting down newspapers, it's hard to tell if he's credible because we hardly ever hear from him or really about him. I think he f'd up large when he shut that paper down, he lit that fuse that caused this current explosion there right now.

5. yesterday I saw him via a reuters feed talking about a new official
the new "Secretary of Defense" he said and jaws dropped, mumble mumble, nudge nudge...

"I mean 'Secretary of the Interior,' of course" he said, but it was really astonishing that he would make such a slip, and you know what Freud would say.

I got vibes like (1) he doesn't venture outside the green zone, and the green zone is shrinking daily; (2) he's just phoning it in, waiting to leave; (3) the igc is a total joke to him; (4) he's kind of frazzled--somehow news got through to him that Sadr's army wasn't a teensyweensy bunch of kooks.

And just how did Amb. Jerry get himself in the f*d up position of igniting this powder keg? By saying and believing untrue things, imo. Maybe it was just a knee-jerk reaction to Sadr's expression of solidarity with Hamas? Who knows. But I find it incredible that after 12 months of occupation, and 10 of those months under Bremer's executive authority, he could be so bloody clueless. So either he's playing an extremely duplicitous game, or he's just another unindicted co-conspirator who never fathomed the way things really are because that wasn't part of his job description.
