When things get tough - bush* vacations.
As Commander-in-chief, our unesteemed president is vacationing from a hard year of raising millions upon millions of dollars so he can be re-elected and continue his raping of the world. Bush* certainly couldn't be expected to sit by his desk and worry(?ha) about his soldiers in the field. (49 have died since Sunday). Bush* is a total embarassment to this nation. More worried about saving his political ass than anything else.

1. This is what he did
...or continued to do after reading the infamous PDB of August 6, 2001. He was on vacation for the entire month of August 2001.

6. Yes, everyone seems to be blaming intelligence agencies, Rice, etc.
But no one, again, seems to focus on where the buck is supposed to stop, our esteemed leader. Condi is the fall guy, just like Tenet and others before her. It was the PRESIDENT'S FAULT that action didn't take place to prevent 9/11. If he had any intellectual curiousity, or wasn't so damn lazy, 9/11 could have been prevented.

"But no, I'm on vacation, damnit. I've got some catching up to do on my sleep." Over 3000 are dead because of a stupid, lazy, incompetent jackass who was never elected president in the first place. The emperor has no clothes.

7. 166 Days PLUS
From Oct 2003
http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20031001.html

Dear Yahoo!:
How many vacation days has George W. Bush taken to date as president? How does that compare with Clinton?
Vince
West Hollywood, California

Dear Vince:
While the president of the United States is never completely on vacation, most commanders-in-chief manage to enjoy a respite from the daily grind during their stay the White House. George W. Bush seems to have taken this to the extreme early in his tenure as president. A humorous, fake resume for Bush suggests that he set the record for most days on vacation by any president in U.S. history -- a bit of an exaggeration, but still cause for some teasing.

According to an August 2003 article in the Washington Post, President Bush has spent all or part of 166 days during his presidency at his Crawford, Texas, ranch or en route. Add the time spent at or en route to the presidential retreat of Camp David and at the Bush family estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Bush has taken 250 days off as of August 2003. That's 27% of his presidency spent on vacation. Although to be fair, much of this time is classified as a "working vacation."

Bush isn't the first president to get away from his work. George Bush Sr. took all or part of 543 vacation days at Camp David and in Kennebunkport. Ronald Reagan spent 335 days at or en route to his Santa Barbara, California, ranch during his eight years in office. Of recent presidents, Jimmy Carter took the least days off -- only 79 days, which he usually spent at his home in Georgia. That's less than three weeks a year, which is closer to the average American's paid time off of 13 days per year.

What about Clinton? As of December 1999, President Bill Clinton had spent only 152 days on holiday during his two terms, according to CBS News. A former staffer noted Clinton was such a workaholic that "it almost killed Clinton to take one-week vacations during August." In 2000, Clinton cut his summer vacation short to just three days, so he and his wife could concentrate on her Senate race and fundraising for Democrats. While we couldn't find the exact tally for Clinton's last year in office, it's reasonable to expect he didn't increase his vacation rate. And in barely three years in office, George W. Bush has already taken more vacation than Clinton did in seven years.

8. Agree w/poster above, we need a calendar.
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 10:11 AM by July
This article says Bush took more vacation in barely three years than Clinton took in seven, but it appears that Bush hit Clinton's 7-yr. 152 days in even less than three years' time. The actual date he reached whatever Clinton's two-term vacation total would be a "fun fact," wouldn't it?

If we ever do get a calendar or timeline going, it should include a symbol for fundraisers (and I believe Bush has sometimes attended more than one in a day).

It's a simple, easy-to-understand representation of the facts that would be so useful in a campaign year. Where do we get the data?

3. What do you expect the Commander in Chief to do?
You don't think he should bother his beautiful mind with such insignificant things? He has a campaign to run you know.

233 days of his term at the ranch 78 visits to camp david and 5 visits to Kennebunkport = 500 days or over 40% of his term on vacation

UNBELIEVABLE!

Edited to say I meant to reply to Feeney2's question about time on vacation.

9. PLEASE DUers.......... Give Bush Some Slack For ONCE!

It's pretty damn exhausting being a self-deluded megalomaniac who believes he is an instrument of God's will.

10. ya can't play cowboy in Washington
You also have to remember that if Bush wants to play cowboy.... and have some photo-ops of him clearing brush and fixing fences like Reagan did... he can't do that in Washington.

11. I've said it before and I'll say it again. . .
Bu$h has been slacking off his entire life. Every job he's had (student, governor, alcoholic, cokehead) he quit trying. This is nothing new. Now the (minority) that voted for this demagogue are getting exactly what they deserve. A C-president. The problem is that they're dragging us down with them.

12. He's a PART-TIME President
and should get part time wages and NO health benefits.

For the 60% of time he IS in DC, he probably only really spends about 4 hours in the office working. The rest of the time is spent exercising and "eating pretzels" if you know what i mean....
