Check out this great poll:
Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 10:34 AM by slavkomae
www.cnn.com

"Are things going the way you expected in Iraq one year after the fall of Saddam Hussein?"

I'd say "DU this poll", but what exactly would that mean?

Most here would definitely answer "yes".

And so would many Freepers.

Psy-ops at CNN must be proud of this one.

1. Bingo--
Akin to "So, do you still beat your wife?"

What a pathetic question, not surprising from CNN, but pathetic nonetheless.

2. I didn't do the poll but actually, I would think no.
.
.

I fully expected that the USA would be in a dominant control position, not floundering around with less control than they had ayear ago.

I mean, they are THE superpower, no?

With all their firepower, high tech killing toys, and taxpayer's money, I expected them to be absolutely dominant.

IT'S A DUMB POLL.

I have no idea what conclusion can be drawn from the results.

BUT, rest assured, all those that WANTED this war will vote no.

They assumed this would be a "cakewalk".

Well,

Didn't quite work out that way . . .

4. "I mean, they are THE superpower, no?"
Of course. Which means we can kick any army's ass in any battle on any battlefield.

And that says nothing about occyping a country whose inhabitants don't want to be occupied. History is chockfull of this lesson, over and over and over -- an occupying army cannot stably keep power in an occupied country for an extended period of time.

Especially if the will of the people of the occupying army to do the whole thing isn't strong enough to allow for significant casualties before support for the whole adventure crumbles.

"BUT, rest assured, all those that WANTED this war will vote no.

They assumed this would be a "cakewalk"."

I think they are collectively mentally hypnotized and delusional. If you AT THIS POINT support Bush*, I think it's pretty fair to say that you either have no clue of what's going on or you are taking part in collective hypnosis.

I think they still think this is a "cakewalk".

Either that, or they have no memory of ever having thought this would be a "cakewalk".

6. Easy there
.
.
.

That's a Kerry Button on the bottom ,not a bush one

I never slightly indicated that I supported Bush

And your statement

"If you AT THIS POINT support Bush*, I think it's pretty fair to say that you either have no clue of what's going on or you are taking part in collective hypnosis."

I find offensive -

Flame someone else.

7. Dude
you completely misunderstood.

I meant "you" as in the general "you" - "one" - not as in "ConcernedCanuk".

Sorry if I was vague, but rereading my post, I can't see how you could have taken it the way you did.

I simply responded to your saying that those who originally supported the war are likely to vote NO. I can see that as far as people who are disilusioned, but those who still support it either still think it's a "cakewalk" or have altered their own memories and don't remember ever having thought this would be a cakewalk.

I never meant to imply that you support Bush.

I actually wasn't even really disagreeing with anything you said, only expanding on the argument.

3. Super
As good as some we have here on DU, such as:

"Does this poll suck?"
"Do you like this poll?"
"Polls, Yes or No?"

Of course we do it in fun, while the CNN poll is pointless.

5. What the hell did * plan anyway? (the absolute truth)
Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 11:07 AM by HypnoToad
He only wanted to exact revenge on Hussein because of a dumb comment Hussein made 6 years ago that Clinton already responded to in kind, he didn't give a fuck about anything else, except for maybe the oil - except his post-"war" handling of their oil proves he doesn't give a fuck about even THAT!!! His constant lies and spin on the issue are incontrovertible proof of that! Ooh, he's am imminant threat! Oooh, we need to liberate them and give them democracy!! Ooooh, he was thinking of attacking! Oooh, he was behind 9/11 along with Osama and the Tooth Fairy! Ooooooh, he was thinking of attacking me personally!! Ooooh oooh ooh!

Pro-war whackos are either brainwashed or totally stupid or utterly loyal to that T______* in office...

Besides, we'd been keeping Iraq under sanction and control for 12 years. Hussein was barely a threat to anybody except his own people, and isn't it supposed to be up to them to incite change within their own country? The US certainly has no moral right, not that it's done anything out of altruism in the past either...
