9/11 Commission Protocol Question
Now, let me preface this by saying that I am neither a legal nor a governmental expert but I don't understand this:

Since the term "testifying under oath" is the same phrase used when one would take the stand in a court of law, I had assumed that the same type of question/answer format would apply.

Certainly in a court of law a witness cannot tell the questioning attorney, "Wait a minute while I make my point here," when responding to a yes or no question. In a legal court, the attorney would cut off the witness with an "I asked a yes or no question - give me a yes or no answer, please." If the witness refuses, they would be (at the least) admonished by the judge to do so.

Rice did this to her questioners several times. Is this ordinary procedure?

1. I wondered about that too. I know at one point, Ben Veniste DID ask
her a two-parter about the Aug 6 PDB: 1) was there threat info and 2) title of document, and she wanted to make her point that there was no new threat info and the typical spin, but I thought the commissioners should have shown more backbone and told her 'yes or no' it's not a hard question.
She was clearly shaky at many points, and if she was honest yesterday, it's clear then that she has lied in public statements numerous times.

2. The commission is not a court.
Hence, I don't think they have the power to charge her with contempt (which is what would happen if she tried to pull that in a court).
