It makes me want to pat his little head and give him a hug.

It's going to be okay Denny.

1. Sorry
It made me all angry and stuff.

It's one thing to be angry at Bush, another to be calling out the other candidates by name. Way too early for that crap.

I don't like to knock other candidates, but Kucinich blew it for me last night.

26. heh - let's see
A Dean supporter starts a negative, childish post attacking Kucinich, so I make a post that's pretty much a parody of that - but this guy is clever for repeating the same tripe about Kucinich that Dean supporters post all the time? Irony, sure :)

Actually, the irony is someone calling themselves Thorestein Veblen, and then supporting a candidate like Dean who may as well have stepped out of the pages of Theory of the Liesure Class - that's the irony folks.

I like DK on certain issues, but he has no shot, at either the Democratic primary or in the general election should the wildly improbable occur, and we nominate him.

22. Huh?
Your post is confusing. Gore dropped out a long time ago. I took (and continue to take) him at his word.

I think Clark is better than anyone else we have to offer right now, and he has sent strong signals of his interest in running. I see nothing wrong in encouraging him to do so.

But if Clark doesn't run, I'll support whoever the Dem nominee is, with a primary preference for Kerry or Dean.

I guess I have to worry about DUers hamstringing fellow DUers along with Democratic candidates. I guess I have to watch my back, and so do you, and so do the candidates. I guess this is why we lose.

30. No the reason why we lose
is the current Democratic Leadership who are spineless, weak, corrupt and cowardly.

The status quo has failed. Kerry, Lieberman, Gephardt, Edwards, McAuliffe, Schumer, Clinton, even those "liberal" candidates who are operating from the "old school" paradigm - all hold responsibility for the decimation wreaked upon the Democratic Party. The party has self-destructed and is in tatters.

What is most important is NOT winning in 2004. It is cleaning out the current leadership so that we may build a majority party in the comming decades.

A vote for John Kerry or any other current "leader" in the Democratic Party is a vote for corruption, weakness, laziness, fear and cowardice. Supporting a sure loser like Kerry in 2004 is to send a message to the leadership that you like the status quo - you like losing, you like weakness.

Only a clean sweep and an internal revolution within the party can save it.

We need to ask the question: What are our values? Why should we fight for them?

33. Courage of our convictions vs. the will to power
First of all, I apologize for my comments above. It's clear I walked into an argument halfway. I'm sorry.

Courage of our convictions vs. the will to power is the struggle we always have, and will always have. You are right in everything you say. But I wonder how much of a price we are willing to pay in answering that question.

37. I am a political moderate and a pragmatic
I want a Democrat to get elected.

I just think the leaders in the Democratic Party have totally lost touch with any values they once may have based their politics on. The American public can smell it.

I think 2004 is going to be painful - like 2002 only worse. I don't think there is any way we can win. Our focus must be on re-evaluating the party and thinking long term. What do we want America to look like in 2030? How do we get there?

Kucinich may be right on the issues (maybe not), but to force those changes overnight is suicide. Plus, he is definately NOT the leader to do it.

Long-term planning, discipline and values-driven policies. The creation of think tanks, media. The Republicans have declared political war and we have been blindsided. Bantering about, buffeted by the prevailing short-term political winds is not way to lead - our leaders have forgotten this.

People made fun of him for getting visibly angry and asking "Where are the WMDs?!!!!" But the next thing I knew, other candidates, and the media, began asking the same kind of questions.
