the military isnt giving me any information, so if you can find anything online that says whats going on in Balad (my friend susans son is there), or whats happening at Abu Ghraib in Baghdad, we would really appareciate it because we are hearing nothing

Yesterday there was an RPG attack on a military convoy with one killed. No identification given.

haven't heard anything recent about activities outside the prison camp there, thankfully.

I read it a few minutes ago in a Guardian report on the bombing of the mosque by the invaders in al-Fallujah. I found it again by searching for "Balad" with GoogleNews, your pick of articles becomes available with what seems to be exact same information.

Nothing in other reports except the line "The military also announced the deaths of two U.S. soldiers - one killed in the Sunni Triangle city of Balad, north of Baghdad, on Tuesday, the other on Wednesday in an RPG attack on his convoy in the capital."

That seems to be all that the military authorities are giving out, sorry..

9. ah, here's something else

on April 3rd witnesses report two Humvees within a US armoured column were hit and destroyed by resistance fire near the Abu Ghurayb, the area was then sealed off and no casualty information given by the military officials. They're very secretive about such things sometimes.

March 30th saw a bomb explode near a passing US convoy near Abu Ghurayb, witnesses reported casualties but no confirmation by US occupation or military authorities given that I know of.

don't see much else about either for the last week or so in my sources about Balad or the Abu Ghurayb areas.

6. Hi Mari.

I heard about Balad this morning but I had to go find this. A U.S. soldier was killed near Balad on 4/6. I think what I heard this morning was that there was unrest in and around Balad.

From all I've heard the NG and Reserve are not the ones doing the fighting. I pray for the boys.
