Just spoke with Kerrys office and they said that
Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 02:24 PM by Mari333
Kerry is angry, and that he has been going to the funerals of the dead soldiers. They also told me that Kerry is being brushed off by the Bush admin and told hes unpatriotic when he speaks against the war.
Sadly, many of the soldiers families dont want to accept the fact their kids are being sent over to Iraq for NOTHING except to protest large US corporations.
I cannot fathom how a soldiers family would be so blind as to want to send their own kids to die for nothing.
they are also trying to help us get in touch with Michael, by calling the Pentagon for us because he hasnt written in so many days.
I want to know whats going on at Abu Ghraib.
No one is letting us know/
They told me this "hes in a grave and dangerous spot right now."
god help us all.

5. Mari, I am thinking of and praying for you and your son and all who love
you both...thank you for posting, and for reminding the rest of us how relatively petty many of our 'problems' are (not to downplay the serious issues that I do know are being faced by some DUers, not all problems are petty!) but I know that I was just now internally whining about an issue that was literally raising my blood pressure, and then I read your post and I am ashamed of making so much out of so little, by comparison. Too trivial to even mention.
Blessings to you and prayers for peace, safety and the best possible resolution of this situation for all concerned.

I think of you every time something happens in Iraq. I hold my breath until I can get on DU and find out if your son is still okay. You are in my thoughts and I hope you can maintain your incredible strength with all the good wishes and prayers coming your way.

I may not post a lot, but I read what you post. Just remember that we semi-lurkers are thinking of you too.

21. Our children are not dying for nothing...
They are dying for George Bush! The thoughts of that make me sick! :puke: Actually our children are not dying for nothing and I wouldn't want them to think that. They are dying because they believed they were doing their part protecting America...and we love them for that belief. Bush is the world's biggest deceiver.

27. Mari, please, take this as I mean it - in love.
I have been suffering with you for a while now. You are scared to death for your son's and everybody else's son's and daughter's safety. I'm sitting here knowing my daughter-in-law is in New York packing for Iraq right now and my son may follow soon after. So, while I'm not as crazy with fear as you are yet, I'm sure I will be soon. You have been very kind to speak to me everytime I worry. I want to help you back.

We know this war is wrong. We know it to our very core, but you have to be strong for your son. You have to let him think of nothing but staying alive. He can't be worried about you being worried. He's got to be able to focus. He can't be thinking about you, or the hometown paper, or what some sergeant's wife said to you, or the Pentagon, or Kerry, or whether, or not, he's fighting an immoral war. It's too late for him to have to worry about that. (Now, I know you haven't heard from him in a while and I don't know, if talk to him about this kind of stuff, or not. I really don't. If you do, don't. At least, not right now.)

I'm telling you this, not only for your son, but for you and your husband, as well. I think, from things I've heard you say, (or I've read, you've written), that you have some connection to a higher power. Whether that's God, or something, or somebody else, lean on Him, or It, whatever the case may be. You have got to calm your soul. You and your husband are going to end up worrying yourselves to death and then who is going to be there for your son when he comes home? Sit down, Mari. Be quiet. And, pray.

I wish I had a crystal ball and could guarantee you everything is going to be alright, but I don't and I can't, but the odds really are in our favor. Many more people will make it through this than won't. Many, many more. Hold on to that.

Mari, please, take a day off. If you can, turn off the television. Turn off the computer. Take a walk. Talk to the Universe. Calm your soul. You have got to live through this for yourself, your husband and your children. I know from experience that you have experienced losing your son in your head a million times. The body, mind and spirit can't bear that much grief. Stop torturing yourself. One day at a time, Mari. You've got to do this one day at a time. Today, you have no bad news about your son and that makes it a good day. Today is all you have. Don't give it to Bush.

I'm praying for you, Mari. I'm praying for us all.

FYI-When I was in the Army they always told us, if our family was worried about us in any way they could call the American Red Cross and the Red Cross would verify our status for them. Next time you get worried from not hearing from him, call them. They will help you.

People were telling me to "chill" for my own health, but there were things I had to "get done" first before i could do that. I understand the priority, even thought the circumstances are different. After certain goals were accomplished, I was able to back off. And you are correct: the squeaky wheel does get the grease.

But please also be careful for your health. The commitment can come at a price. It did for me. I understand what Kimber is saying also, and they are kind, generous words..

Many prayers for you and your husband and of course Michael, just as many for all other DU'ers with family and loved ones in harm's way.

Thanks for your post.

"legitimize" who Kerry is and what he represents by giving him a moment of play or attention. They are completely selfish bastards for it as well, as Kerry has real concern for the troops.

if our soldiers died in a conflict, it is unpatriotic to say that they die for nothing because that would be insulting to their sacrifice...

37. And I don't think anyone here would presume
to tell a grieving family that their loved died for nothing. The grieving need to believe, need to make sense of the senseless, even if they are in denial. But they have to understnad that they need to speak up now to get the troops home asap to stop the dying! The real sin is in the lies being spewed by Shrub, et al.
