I think I'm becoming a believer now
I am somewhat new to this in-depth world of politics. I knew Bush was an idiot. I knew Republicans were just plain wrong in most instances. I thought I knew what 9/11 and Iraq was all about. I believed what was put in front of me by the media. The wool was pulled over my eyes, I see now.

Because of many different sources, points-of-view, and "new" media outlets that I have been exposed to in the past 6 months or so (mostly because of DU and other progressive places) I am beginning to believe that this administration is much more sinister than I had previously known. All of the dead fish that Bush and company are trying to hide are beginning to smell and poke their heads out, as long as you are looking for them. It is one thing to screw over domestic policies with a right-wing agenda, but it is quite another thing to use the death of 3000 Americans to justify a war that has cost the lives of hundreds of American soldiers and thousands of innocent civilians. All of the evidence that this war is a sham is piling up and it takes willful ignorance not to notice it all. Yes, it is good that Saddam is gone. And yes, it good that the people of Iraq are free; at least more free than they were. But are those positives worth all the negatives we have seen so far and are going to see in the coming years. I don't know how anyone can say yes to that.

I am no longer angry that Bush and Cheney were appointed as our president. The anger for that has been replaced with a hatred of their actions in office. They have sent kids to die for their beliefs and lied to all of us the whole time. They lie and lie and spin and lie, even about the deaths of our brave Americans. I don't understand why half of this nation thinks they are doing a good job. I guess they are stupid or ignorant or maybe it was because of that bribe, in the form of tax cuts, they gave last year. I just don't know.

I do know this: I am angry. I have seen a glimpse of what is really happening to the fabric of our country and I am furious. Yet, there is still a part of me that is hopeful that there can be more people who find out for themselves what is really going on. I don't really know where this is going. I just thought I would let it out and see if anyone cared.

One thing I do want to say:
Thank you Democratic Underground and all those who make DU such a great place to come to. :toast:

1. And I'd like to thank the trolls
For allowing me an appropriate situation in which I can use the "c" word on DU. Did it twice tonight, within 5 minutes!

3. No. There was a poster who cross-posted a nasty thread about DU
And before the Mods crushed his posts, I told him what I thought of him.

6. Here it is. This guy was ticked off big time.
"DU exists for the far left to speak to the far left. There is NO ROOM for any Democratic voices that speak to moderation. Everyone here must suck-up to the radical gay lobby, the peace freaks with their long gray pony tails at 60 years of age, the minorities who are always victims.....always. It gets so old.

It's all about radicalism - the more the better. It isn't so much about political ideology as it is about immature Bush bashing and outlandish conspiracy theories.

DU has no clue at all. The mainstream Democrats are so far away from what is posted here as Pluto is from the Sun. Interestingly, nobody here seems to recognize it! It's almost comical. Talk about chatting within a cocoon. I have read a lot of DU and see moderate, common-sense posters get banned for daring to question the orthodoxy of the far left.

The sad thing is how gays here are so damned stubborn. If they don't get THEIR WAY it's a crisis that means taking their issues to the streets. Again, it's all about being radical.

Then, there's "AP" here at DU. A black who thinks that the United States and "The Man" owes him and other blacks everything. Gimmmeeee, Gimmmmeeee, it's so stereotypical as to be comical. If DU didn't have an "AP" they would have to invent one. The black who sees racism in EVERYTHING! It's truly funny. Yet, try to discuss crime and race and -- oops, must keep quiet! Can't report that 63% of all rapes in the U.S. are committed by black males on white women. WHY IS THIS?? To even bring it up is deemed "racism"........What is racism is allowing these statistics to be ignored. But, discuss it at DU? Forget it - "AP" is watching!

Too many hypocrisies - so little time.

And, Skinner ---- What a piece of work.

Watch the polls here at DU, they say it all ---- anytime there is a chance to extol the virtues of socialism, you'll see it reflected in the polls.

THIS is the forum where Skinner says it's ok for a poster to use the Hammer & Sickle as an avatar. YET, he is always concerning himself with "offending" people. The Hammer & Sickle, and all it represents, killed MILLIONS. Just as the swastika represents death. Would a swastika be allowed here? Yet, hypocrisy again, David Allen (Skinner) feels it is perfectly fine to post the Hammer & Sickle.

Democratic Underground is so far from the mainstream of even DEMOCRATS it is funny. Oh, and don't even get me started on the arrogance of so many of the posters. Extremes like DU and Free Republic bring out the know-it-alls and those who think their way is the ONLY way.

Enough said."

7. well I dont care who it was
b/c I think its against the rules to talk about others, but that post just seems like a crazed rant. If that person was truly a moderate and even spent a week objectively looking at the community, he would see that there is a wide range of people here at DU.

And this may be a dumb question but what does AP stand for?

5. Welcome to the growing numbers of people that have drawn similar
conclusions based upon what was once ridiculed as being tin-foil, neoteric lefty.

I am in the LIHOP camp based upon the truth that has surfaced here-and I'm not in total opposition to those that argue MIHOP-these fascists in the administration of George W. Bush are truly evil and capable of anything promoting their secret agendas.

9. Thanks for posting!
Lots of shared frustration and wonderment if we are just talking to the choir. Your post is a refreshing reaffirmation that we are fighting to save this country from the criminal fashcism of the Republican Party.

My theory is that we are about 6-8 months ahead of the general public in our understanding of the Bush agenda. So I'm hoping that the vast majority are going to be a very angry bunch come next fall.
