Poll question: True or False: "We are a warlike people"
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 07:13 PM by Minstrel Boy
"I think the level of casualties is secondary. I mean, it may sound like an odd thing to say, but all the great scholars who have studied American character have come to the conclusion that we are a warlike people and that we love war.... What we hate is not casualties, but losing." - Neoconservative Michael Ledeen, speaking at the American Enterprise Institute, March, 2003. http://www.guerrillanews.com/intelligence/doc2310.html

1. The idea rather than the reality, though
Only if it is short, an obvious win, and few of our lives are lost. Otherwise, it's get out of Dodge, fast.

2. Sadly we are
Name a five year period in the last hundred years where we haven't bombed or attacked somebody. There isn't one.

3. I don't agree. I don't think Americans are more warlike than
any other people, particularly any other people with a lot of economic (and thus military) resources at our disposal (or rather, at the gov't's disposal).

Other people are not enthusiastic about our wars; we are rarely enthusiastic about other people's wars.

Which makes it all the more painful to see what this dishonest claque is doing to this beautiful country here (and to that beautiful country there).
