4. Same here
The poll presupposes that many DUers thought it was a good idea to start with.

6. Many DUers did think it was a good idea
This poll is for them. I won't be voting either because I was against it from the start too.

I didn't read many responses from people who actually liked the idea. Maybe I just missed them. I did however see a lot of prowar posts from a few individuals.

I new back in the summer of 02, when *bush started the Iraqi focus ...when Scott Riteer was attacked by the repugs.....I new it then it was all a farce.

7. I never thought it was a good idea
When the military buildup started, I hoped (but did not assume) that Bushco was using the threat of military force to coerce Saddam to comply with the inspection regime. It reminded me of something an old political science professor of mine once said:

"The threat of force is a use of power. Actually using force is not."

But I was worried by rhetoric from Bushco and Rethugs in Congress suggesting that removing Saddam was the only possible option, whether he cooperated with the inspections or not.

I was also bothered that Bushco repeatedly talked about the standoff with Iraq as part of the "war on terrorism", when to me there seemed to be no connection whatsoever. I was even more bothered that no public figures seemed to question this.

When the rhetoric continued even after UN inspectors went back to Iraq I knew we were in trouble. I was resigned to the US fighting another war we didn't have to, but I assumed we would win it and move on, that through a combination of military capability and realpolitik the Iraq operation would be successful.

So, I never thought the invasion was a good idea, but now things have turned out even worse than I had feared. Not only was the idea bad, it was executed badly.

12. I always knew it wasn't a good idea
This is one of those cases where it doesn't feel so great to be so right.
