1. 50/50
as of now. Either Bush will tank or he'll pull an October Surpise (War, Terror, or cheap oil economy (via looting iraq)) and the state will go dem.

MAybe?

2. "if" he wins
it will still be nearly IMPOSSIBLE for Dubya to get CA. Arnold is a liberal republican. He'd be a centrist if he had a big D next to his name instead of an R. However, the fact that the winner of this recall, if it isn't a Dem. will have maybe 30-35 % of the vote at most. I wouldn't call that a republican uprising in CA. Arnold will get a good number of independents and conserv. democrats but it will be hard for him to turn them on the dubya if America is like it is today in about 12 months. Thats "if" he wins. If Davis defeats the recall then things may get marginally better but hes out at the end of his term and feinstein will probably be gov. for the next 8 years after that.

Our (Democratic) Secretary of State and local officials might have other ideas. Let's not be simplistic...

5. same
This business of a correlation between governorships and winning a state for the presidency is very overrated. Al Gore won in the following states with Republican governors in 2000.

Massachusetts
Rhode Island
Connecticut
New York
Pennslyvania
New Jersey
Michigan
Illinois
Wisconsin
New Mexico

Meanwhile Bush won in the following states with Democratic governors

Alaska
Alabama
Mississippi
Georgia
South Carolina
North Carolina
Kentucky
West Virginia
Indiana
Missouri
New Hampshire

Hence the presidential party nominee carried 21 states governed by the other party. The presidential party nominee carried 27 states governed by the same party. Al Gore carried the 2 states governed by Independents.

Don't worry about it. We're dealing with 2 separate elections here.

6. He won't be making much money
will have to cancel whatever movies he was planning, won't be able to run for President, and will be the only Republican in any constitutional office. It won't be pleasant. But it's better than Larry Flynt. Vote Davis.

7. Prez?
Who won't be able to run for Prez? Arnold? He can't anyway. He's not native-born. Maybe I missed something or misunderstood.

9. Duers in Ca. How much respect do you have of Arriana now?
How much respect have you gained with the intelligent and lovely Arianna Huffington since she has appeared to have "seen the light' on her former right-wing contemporaries? Do you think she has a ghost of a chance against Arnold?

John
