Right-leaning, Bushfluffing NY Times nabs ZERO Pulitzers for reporting!
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 09:28 AM by johnfunk
Talk about a vote of no confidence!

This is what happens when stealth conservatives like Howell "Howl Reigns" Raines systematically destroy a great newspaper. And no, I'm not talking about Jayson Blair. One look at the collected NYT writings of Elizabeth "Luv that Smirk" Bumiller or David "I'm lying as fast as I can" Brooks should give you a hint as to why the Pulitzer committee in effect gave The Newspaper of Wreck-ord the figurative middle digit.

ON EDIT: One Pulitzer for "public service", based on a very good feature series on worker injuries. A great deal of the research for the print series was undertaken by PBS, which should have shared the award.

1. Geeze, not even Judith "CIA" Miller?
I mean, like, she had all those WMD's NAILED.

Oh, and what about Tom "Just Give War a Chance" Friedman???? I mean, he knew we were doing the right thing in invading Iraq.

Oh, and what about Jason Blair????? At least he admitted he made shit up.

I can't believe they weren't awarded the "Hitler" prize or something for warmongering.

13. It's middle of the road
it has liberal and conservative writers. It's still a good paper.

3. Wasn't Brooks the pinhead who predicted Kerry would be thru by Sept '03?
I recall him saying that on a talk/discussion show on PBS or cable tv.

9. I get as angry at the Times as anybody (and let them know)...
but consider, for example, the article on the front page today about Ashcroft and Freeh. I think the print press sometimes does its job, and we should support the NY Times, Washington Post, and LA Times. I find valuable, and sometimes courageous, articles from these papers in LBN every day. The LA Times, by the way, earned five Pulitzers.

6. The Pulitzer Foundation is fairly progressive
So it is no big surprise if right-leaning publications get no awards. Take a look at the types of stories that won awards this year (and other years).

10. Thankfully, Pulitzers are not yet given for propaganda.
Had they been, the Times would have won an armload full. The Times, from top, to bottom, is filled with neocon propagandists. Their primary purpose, is to advance the cause of their Likudnik friends in Israel, by advancing the cause of their operatives in the Bush administration.

They are traitors to the basic operative tenets of the Fourth Estate, to democracy, and to this nation, and I for one, will not forget the role they have played in helping to bring harm to our county. At some point in the future, they will have to answer for their crimes. Propaganda, is *NOT* protected by the First Amendment!

11. I have that rag bookmarked online...
...but I never go near it anymore. They e-mail me headlines every morning and it's just one more thing that I have to delete. I turned off on the NYT pretty much altogether after reading two articles that described the Bush administration as being practically free of scandal.:wtf:

12. You are missing Bob Herbert and Paul Krugman
who are two of the best columnists in the NYT. I look forward to their columns and they tell it like it is, pulling no punches. We need to support these two brave people who dare to stand up to the Bush machine.

I often forward their columns to my mother. She will believe it if it's in the Times.
