Franken is dumb!
I just heard on the rebroadcast of the O'Franken Fcator. A caller said that Bush should be impeached. Franken asked her for what. The caller said for lying to us about WMD. Franken then says you cant impeach Bush because you cannot prove that Bush knowingly made false statements about WMD. WTF? Is Franken on our side or not?

Lets see, the NIE stated entire that entire agencies disagreed with Bush about the so called threat from Iraq and their WMD. But Bush tells us that "there is no doubt Iraq has WMD...." Bush tells us we can be attacked by Saddam in 45 minutes. There was never any evidence to back that up. As a matter of fact the intelligence arm of the Air Force said that Saddam could not deliver his WMD to the homeland. He never had that ability. The CIA also said that Saddam would not give his WMD to terrorist groups unless he was backed into a corner by the US. But Bush kept telling us the opposite of this. I could go on and on....BUT THESE ARE EXAMPLE OF LIES.

Bush tells us something that there is no evidence to back it up. THAT IS A LIE. What else does Franken want? Bush should be impeached for HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS!!!

Does it bother anyone else that Franken has this thought process?

1. Well, I agree with Franken but for a different reason
Without a Dem majority in the House, impeachment will never happen.

2. He is just being realistic.
You cant really be certain we have anything that would stick to bush himself.

3. I think I see what he may be doing here.
But I don't think I'll spell it out, as doing so would sort of spoil it. Here's a hint, though... magnets attract.

4. calm down and look at it objectively
I heard the question tonight on the replay. Franken is right in that it would be difficult to substantiate the fact that he DELIBERATELY lied. That is what would have to be proven.
Franken was right on. Please don't expect Franken to be our version of Rush...ok. He is not going to be blinded by partisanship.

7. ...
i don't think bush lied. why would he put himself in a situation he is in today? that just makes absolutely zero sense. he definitely tried to spin any favorable intelligence, and didn't really take care to double check anything, and i think at this point everybody realises that. i seriously doubt that he expected to go to iraq and find NOTHING at all.

the question with this air america thing, is do you want it to be the voice of the far left, or the voice of democrats?

5. Bush's pronouncements were very carefully phrased.
If you go back and read what he said, he often says "reports indicate" or "experts believe" or something like that. Snotty Scotty has said (in connection with Yellowcakegate) that the President is not a fact checker and does not personally vouch for the accuracy of his remarks.

So his "out" is that he relied on advice. He believed it. Hard to prove otherwise.

11. And the PNAC cabal's careful parsing of words
is proof that they knew they were lying.

However they also just plain outright lied, when the parsing seemed ineffective. But impeachment is essentially a political act - a reflection of of the existing balance of power, as recent history proves.

14. Not true....
Bush said over and over, "there is no doubt...." "It's a fact that...." He did not simply say, "reports have said that...."

6. Randi Rhodes has a better explanation...
Impeachment must originate in the House.
The House has a Republican majority.
They will not impeach their own.

Not even with the facts.

So, if you have a Republican rep in the house, you need to dump them and change that.

As far as Al goes, I can't defend it. MAYBE he was being ironic. That's the best I can do for him.

listen to him speak. I was one of many he impressed on his book selling tour last Fall.

9. An impeachment now would be foolish. Here's why:
With the GOP controlling both houses, Bush walks.

Jeopardy applies. He'd be scott free, never to answer for his crimes.

10. speaking of wmd's, David Kay in Vanity Fair Mag
Former U.S. weapons inspector David Kay said on Monday that he had not concluded by July 2003 that Iraq (news - web sites) did not possess any weapons of mass destruction as reported by Vanity Fair magazine.

Kay told Reuters he was working on four hypotheses in July and did not conclude until later last year that Iraq probably did not have such weapons.
President Bush (news - web sites) cited the banned weapons as the main reason for taking the United States to war against Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Iraq in March 2003.
In a lengthy report in its latest issue which goes on sale this week, Vanity Fair said that less than a month after arriving in Iraq as the CIA (news - web sites)-appointed leader of the hunt for biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, Kay said he sent an e-mail to CIA Director George Tenet saying "it looks as though they did not produce weapons."
The magazine noted that the e-mail was sent in July, yet it would be months before the U.S. Congress and the public were told of Kay's conclusion.

13. no he's not
i think franken was trying to, even though he agreed with his caller, have her clarify her points through reasoned dialogue and have an open *discussion* on the matter instead of piggybacking like the right-wing hacks do when their chearleaders call in and make a point they agree with....

but there were some points i think franken may have missed to drive the point home on the impeachment assertion. there's definitely ammunition there.

15. "We found the weapons of mass destruction!" - George W. Bush
The impeachment of George W. Bush will not happen with Congress controlled by so many Republican idiots, but he did indeed lie about WMD.
