Did we really think the Republicans could build a democratic government.
The Republican party has no experience or background in democratic governments. There forte is oligarchies and aristocracies. They have no understanding of an egalitarian society full of free people.

actually, they do. it's just that their definition of 'democratic government' is 'any structure that reliably does whatever the republican party wants'.
