When first we practice to deceive...
California's huge budget deficit can be traced to the $50 billion plus that Enron and the Big Oil companies robbed from the California economy as VP Cheney was meeting secretly with the culprits and refuses to this day to release the information in those meetings. With California's economy being one of the largest in the world, it could not help but impact the economy of our country as a whole. So we should not overlook the impact of Enron's shenanigans in California when we look at state of our national economy today.

Now we get a recall election because the Repubs are incensed that California has a $38 billion deficit and they are blaming it on the recently elected Governor, Gray Davis. Never mind the $50 billion that the Repubs helped Enron squeeze out of the Golden State. But there is a price to pay for deception.

As George W and Karl Rove high-five down in Texas, the people of California are about to slap them back to yesterday. But what should be most disturbing to the national Repubs is that many Repubs in California are just as pissed as the Democrats and the discontent will not be isolated to California alone. This little deception by Karl Rove and Dubya will backfire as something they could never have imagined. It couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of thieves.

1. Another Good Post Kentuck
I hope you're right about this. I listened to Arianna last night on CNN. She isn't shy about pinning CA's financial woes on Enron and letting the poop run uphill all the way to the WH.

In LBN this morning, there was a post about the Lt Gov, Bustamante (spelling)getting into the race. In my opinion, that means that there are three running who have a vested interest in making Enron the central issue in this election: Davis, Huffington, and Bustamante.

With all three talking about it, Dubya is in for an uncomfortable two months....

God I hope so...............

2. I was just thinking the same thing last night when I was
watching Arnold Schwarzenegger give his little speech, that the repukes have NO idea the can of worms they've opened up with their recall bullshit. If I were in sunny CA, I'd be royally pissed that those fuckers had not only messed up their economy through their coddling of Enron and their mismanagement of the energy situation, but that they have the nerve to think they have the right to override the will of the people who elected Davis.

I really think this whole situation was manipulated from the beginning by KKKarl, Darth Cheney, and the Bushistas in order to not only try and bring CA to the side of the repukes, but to punish the state and bring it to its knees for having delivered its sizable electoral votes to Gore in 2000. Shrub aides themselves said in 2001 that their Great Leader was planning on ignoring the state, giving it the finger, because of its failure to recognize his greatness and his presidential entitlement. I really hope the people of CA are smart enough to see through this fascist bullshit.

3. The BFEE, Cheney, repukes have just successfully BURIED the enron
stuff simply by getting a recall election against Davis.

The ONLY thing any of the sheeple are going to EVER remember about the energy crisis is "Oh, that was Davis' fault." And that's it in a nutshell: the reason for the recall.....and the success of the recall. No manner of news, lawsuits, etc. will EVER make the sheeple believe otherwise.

This is Rove's finest manipulation............ doesn't even matter who wins Calif, even if Davis stays in office.

4. I see your point
but I respectfully disagree. I think politicians fighting for their survival will be far more willing to "drop the dime" on Enron that you think. Further, those supproting those politicians are going to be repeating the story over and over and over again. This could be good.

There is, of course, the chance that the public will be so distracted by the celebraty aspect of this circus that nothing will get out of that black hole. In which case your prediction is absolutly true.
