If they are lying to us, how can we give our consent?
One of the old saws that made the flag wave as we proudly marched along was, “The United States of America, a land where the government governed through the consent of the governed.” The Bush administration is engaged in systematic lying and have constructed an iron curtain of secrecy that would make the Kremlin envious.

Congress has thrown in the towel and is buckling under in the name of party ideologue. We, the People are being denied any information on what our government is doing. A government engaged in such secrecy is a government acting upon the people, not acting for the people.

1. Democracy died in this country 12/12/00.
Congress -- and yes, the Democrats in Congress -- have been complicit in this process. Consider the USA Patriot Act, the Iraqi War Resolution, energy policy (driven by energy companies), the tax cuts, No (Rich) Child Left Behind, the Department of Homeland Gestapo, Medicare "reform", etc., etc., etc..

Democracy is dead. I am not certain it can be revived.
