600 Dead: A Tragic Milestone Looms in Iraq

Sometime in the next week - two, tops - the *official* death toll of American service people in Iraq will hit 600.

There will be no retrospectives offered.

There will be no second guessing of the policies that have taken these lives.

There will be no footage of coffins returning Stateside.

There will be no presidential attendance at a single funeral.

And, most tragically, there is no end to it in sight.

What have the American people become?
