I don't mean change parties.

I mean will they abandon the Far Far Right Wing which has dicated political and economic suicide as a method of bringing on "The Rapture"? It is their golden opportunity to change THEIR party as much as it would be a chance to change ours.

Or will it just be another gridlock/feeding frenzy with everyone playing political "GOTCHA" until Little Orphan Annie couldn't qualify as a congressperson?

IMHO anarchy is just an election away, to paraphrase Abbie Hoffman.

1. Republicans are far more monolithic.
We may see one or two, but overall they are MUCH more successful in party discipline than Democrats. The analogy of herding cats comes to mind.

2. Yes, But Who Will Lead the Party
if Bush is perceived to have failed? Leadership could revert to the moderates. Depending on the margin of a Kerry victory, it could foster a DLC-like movement within the GOP.

4. Good point.
DeLay may have his own legal problems to deal with; Hastert isn't a real leader. Who's the majority whip these days?

3. The teat of the far right wing is too succulent - the far right wing
may abandon them, if they decide to not try to send the country into a civil war over Abortion and the Ten Commandments.

5. I don't think it's the FAR right....
I think it's the Corporate Right that has the big fat teat. The FAR right wing is too many broke Southern Baptists or equivalent and the only currency they have is a vote.
