2. And can I just say how incredibly intelligent
Kerry sounds, especially when I compare him to Chucklenuts?

I mean bush as he is NOW doesn't sound HALF as intelligent or well-read as Kerry does on this show and this show was in 1971!!! How old was Kerry then? Mid-20s?

4. My god, Cavett looks young!
Of course, I did, too. In 1971, I was all of five years old!

6. HA!
I was one.

I loved how just now Kerry said "I wish we could have gotten into the issues"...he said that because O'Neill kept diverting from the points Kerry was trying to make.

Interesting, interesting stuff.

And I'd LOVE to see a clip of ANYTHING bush said at the age of 27. Was it comprehensible?

today for Iraq. Vietnamization and Iraqization, will the latter work any better than the former did?

If somebody could get the US out of Iraq with any semblance of order I would bet on Kerry. He really had a grip on things when he was 27.

8. That was astonishing
I'm so happy they aired that. I thought it would be some kind of gotcha thing against Kerry but it really serves him well. He is so reasonable, so intelligent, so knowledgeable in the discussion. I have to say the right-winger comes off far more intelligent and articulate than the current crop.

Kerry was HOT. If I were a hippie-chick I would have snagged him for sure.

9. Write to c-span asking them when we will see comparable time
dedicated to *'s whereabouts during the same time frame.. Maybe they can invite some of his MANY guard buddies to reminisce about the good ole days:evilgrin:..

C-span's WILLINGNESS to move heaven and earth in order to show 33 year old footage of ONE candidate, certainly makes the same time period of the OTHER candidate significant..

I wonder how hard their researchers are working to unearth * footage and stories..

10. What might they be looking for?

All I'm aware of is the wedding video at the Smoking Gun.

What else do you think there is?

Cheerleading footage?

Doing the Twist at Inaugural balls at the WH?

His date with Tricia Nixon, kind of like The Bachelor?

12. Maybe some still photos of him by his "plane",
a half-eaten sandwich, some magazines, and a soundtrack of crickets chirping... oh and the dental records

It's utterly amazing to me that someone so "high-profile" as he was , and yet almost NO RECORD exists.. Like he was dropped here from a UFO or something..

That's why c-span needs to devote equal time.. to show how INSIGNIFICANT he was at the same age as Kerry...and how the lack of any "trail" could only indicate that it WAS there, but has been scrubbed..

11. call as a republican wanting "balance"
say since they show kerry at a young age, they should show what bush was doing at around the same time also.
