Rice wants to meet with 9/11 victims' families
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=1&u=/ap/20040328/ap_on_re_us/sept_11_commission_12

"Rice said in a TV interview that she wants to testify publicly, but is constitutionally barred from doing so, a senior administration official said Sunday afternoon, before the program aired. Rice also said in the "60 Minutes" interview that she wants to meet with family members of the Sept. 11 victims, to hear their concerns, the official said. "

So, now she's suddenly compassionate? Please. This 60 minutes interview is going to be disgusting.

1. Too little, too late.
An obvious attempt to climb on the Clarke apology bandwagon. She has had lots of opportunity to do so if that was in her heart.

It isn't.

2. If this is for real...
The most likely scenario would be that she would see only the 40 or so victims' families that actually support dumbya*.

4. What families she wants to meet?

Kristen Breitweiser and Ellen Mariani?

Or Lisa Beamer and Deena Burnett?

Let's wait and see.

12. Oh Goody!
This is beginning to feel like my college days during the Nixon Watergate stonewalling. Doonesbury will probably start showing the WH stonewall going up soon just he did for tricky dick.

6. didn't Bush actually fight with these people earlier?
and didn't he send out Laura to also fight with them when the objected to his ad using a flag drapped coffin emerging out of the smoke and rubble. and we found out those were not firefighters but actors.

This is such bullshit. Condi is nothing but a puppet doing her master's bidding and trying to manipulate the people that pay her salary. It is desperation here. I don't know whether to be glad or mad. She is showing how truly shallow she is. What a stupid pose to adopt now after Clarke obviously showed what real compassion is about.

Ugh--this is the despicable, lying, fake Bush administration pulling another fake staged act.

7. this is bull......
I'm quoting from my Sunday paper here....
The White House finds itself in the awkward position of trying to explain why Rice, the national security adviser, can talk at lenghth to reporters, but not at the commission's televised hearings because of the constitutional principle of separation of powers.
"This is mostly about politics not about legalities," said Michael Gerhardt, a constitutional law professor at the college of Wm&Mary who specializes in seperation of powers."There's not much they can point to as settled law to prevent this. This is a matter of political judgment, not legal judgment. ..... It has'nt kept her from talking to the press."

9. If she wants to find 9/11 families
to talk to, she should attend the public 9/11 commission meetings.

11. YEAH, THE ADMINISTRATION
has to be puking over watching clarke get applauded and greeted after his testimony. That is a public relations coup that no one could have bargained on. And the LIBERAL press has yet to show the families doing it. Its only because i watched it on CSPAN that i even saw it.

10. Since when do they care about the constitution?? They have been
violating it daily since they entered office. All of a sudden it matters...when they have yet another crime to hide.
