TDS steals ratings from real news shows
Go Jon!!!!!!!

Hits & Misses
The Daily Show's fake news steals ratings from the real news, RadioShack cashes in on number portability, and more.
By Owen Thomas, Michael V. Copeland, April 2004 Issue

Fake and scathing 1, fair and balanced 0. CNN and MSNBC have gotten used to losing to Fox News. But during the Democratic primaries, an unexpected foe stole the ratings crown from all three. The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, a mock news program airing on Viacom's (VIA) Comedy Central, attracted more viewers at 11 p.m. than any of the cable news channels in the last two weeks of January, outdoing Fox by 20 percent even as the news network was running live campaign coverage. Stewart's fake news show has won ever-growing audiences with help from real politico guests like John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards.

1. Fake News???
And what's the tripe we get from Faux?

Guess this is how the mediawhores attempt to justify having their asses handed to 'em. 30 minutes of TDS offers far more substance than a month of Faux, a week of MSGOP and a days worth of CNN.

Glad to see the numbers are up...and I'd love to see more demos...the ages, those likely to vote, etc. I knew things were going good when a Bush slam segment was sponsored! Times are getting better!

2. They should put quotes around "fair and balanced".
The Daily Show is, sadly, a more accurate news source than Fox News.

3. Hurting local news in St. Louis
Local NBC affiliate down from 18.2 to 18 and CBS from 18.4 to 15. Even conservative wife prefers TDS to local talking heads.

4. applause
A local station in Portland announced last week that Jon Stewart had renewed his contract for 2(?) years. When the anchor who was reading the story finished the other anchor literally applauded and had an ear to ear - pop corn and cotton candy - grin on his face.

8. FOX, as you know is nothing more than tripe
During a trial FOX lawyers claimed to have eighty million viewers. The judge of the case had to ask for more details.

There shows and news are talking points from the RNC and are constantly giving erroneous headlines.

Here is some more crap that they attempt to feed the public:

9. Out here in our part of Mountain Time, we see it at MIDNIGHT...let me tell
Edited on Sat Mar-27-04 09:46 PM by Gloria
you why...

Instead of tne East Coast feed, which gave it to us at 9pm, Comcast switched to the West Coast feed, which comes on at midnight....because they put Comedy Central in with E! and a couple of other channels with "naughty" shows on then so that the kiddies wouldn't be injured!

It'a load of crap...
