Pics from Boston Protest Against Bush 3/25 (Warning: PHOTOS)
As many of you know, I went to the Boston Protest when Bush was in town for a $2,000 per plate fundraiser at the Park Plaza. This is my account.

I got to the protest around 4:15 and exited Arlington Street “T” station toward Park Plaza. The barriers were already up and a couple of hundred union guys had already assembled. Ironworkers, Carpenters, SEIU, and AFL-CIO had banners. There were also some people from International Answer, Veterans for Peace, Bring Them Home Now, and various other veteran, environmental, and left-wing groups.

A small group of loser Freepers had also assembled:

I handed out enlistment forms to these young Chickenhawks-In-Training, but only one had actually served his country. The others were flabby white suburban boys.

I took a walk down Boylston toward the Four Seasons to see if I could get closer to the Park Plaza, but there were barriers all around the area. Two cops followed me from the corner of Arlington and Boylston. Down a side street next to the Four Seasons, some of the Bush dinner attendees were assembling to go through the police security barrier. There was a contingent of union folks, Answer Folks, and Women in Pink yelling at them as they filed toward the security area in their minks and $5000 suits. Many protesters yelled “traitors”, “send your own kids to Iraq”, and other epithets, sprinkled with boos and hissing. I took pictures of the rich folks, who honestly didn’t look too comfortable.

I decided to walk down to another entrance area off of Charles Street South. The cops began to follow me again and I turned to confront them:

"You're cops, I can tell by your bad shoes"

"Excuse me, ma'am?"

"I'm a citizen taking pictures, leave me alone"

"Whatever, lady." They knew I knew-they had these smirks on their faces.

There was Jon Keller (local WB56 right-wing Hack) and some Fox News 25 people hanging around. There was also a small group of environmental protesters who I chatted with and took pictures.

Walked back toward Arlington T stop and there were a few more Bush supporters, all of whom were getting grief from the union guys.

The kids with the Bush Cheney signs ended up getting pushed back toward the building by Ironworkers. Chants of "Bush Go Home", and "Bush Sucks" drowned out the whining of the dozen or so Republikkans.

Toward the end as the protest was breaking up, there was an altercation instigated by the chickenhawk freepers. There had been insults and taunts all afternoon, but of course, the little Republikkans are used of armchair or mouse warfare, and not confrontation by real men with arms like tree trunks. The cops had to stand between them to keep the little freepers from being killed. Boo hoo-they had to cross the street because they were afraid of real Americans!

And here is an ironworker on a light post with the American flag:

And since you've all been so good reading my account, Noah will now allow you to rub his belly:

8. How poignant
The "Bush/Cheney Say No to Diplomacy, Trees and Peace" signs are taped above the statue of one of the black soldiers who fought for freedom in the Civil War, as featured in the movie "Glory".

Bush is coming to my town on April 5 and I would love to disguise myself as a Republican and hand out these flyers, along with armed forces enlistment forms. Heh, heh...

10. Great pictures!
Good stories too. I love Boston but have not been there for about 10 years. Only town where I was told that I could not get lost and the only town where I got unbelievably lost. Great place though and here is a big rub for Noah's belly, my cats are at the farm and will never know.

Thanks for telling and showing us your story.

12. Thanks for posting the pictures and account.
I wish I could have gone, but I didn't find out about it until late in the afternoon and I had to be somewhere else.

Give that adorable kitty some belly scritches for me. He is so adorable--I've gotta meet him. :-)

20. That was hands down the funniest, greatest
protest story I have ever read on DU!

Can't wait to meet you in NYC! Wish you would come to DC next month-

22. I may come to DC-planning on going to Philly
I have been interviewing so I may be starting a job around then (hopefully).

Unfortunately I downsized the freeper pic. Those kids were pathetic. Same ones were at all the anti-War protests.

24. that's funny, Michael and I thought
you made the freepers little tiny on purpose as an allegorical symbol of their absolute lack of relevance, and shriveled up hearts. We were laughing pretty hard about that! Leave it--it will freak out visiting freeps.

I think your kitties are adorable...wish you could see Stinky the Wonder Cat!

I've been looking forward to seeing these photos... your descriptions the other day sounded so good! Glad to see the unions out there! Some of your photos are really small though... or maybe it's my computer? Anyhow, good job, Rose.
