BBV - Action Needed in Ohio ASAP
I don't post on here often enough so most don't know me. However, urgent help is needed in Ohio. SoS Blackwell is doing all he can to ram-rod counties into deciding on a voting machine vendor. He has given the remaining counties until Tuesday to make a decision or he will choose for them. He wants to spend $Millions on a PR campaign for DRE voting in Ohio. He has hired a PR firm on a no-bid contract to handle this campaign. Of course, he also plans to run for Gov. in 2006. He, like Wally O'Dell, is a good Repuke.

State Sen. Teresa Fedor, D., has asked verifiedvoting.org to do all we can to get constituents in the state of Ohio to call their state legislators and demand that funding be withheld from Blackwell until a smart decision can be made. We are spreading the word to other groups and I know that we can count on DU to help out.

Here is some information on how to contact your reps. and Senators:

House of Representatives - 1-800-282-0253 for any Representative
email and/or FAX number - www.house.state.oh.us/jsps/SearchbyName.jsp

Senate - No 1-800 number but email and/or FAX number -
www.senate.state.oh.us/senators/by_name.html

Please call your legislators first thing on Monday morning. This weekend flood their FAX machines with FAX's. Let them know that Blackwell must be stopped until cooler heads prevail.

10. Action Alert As It Was Sent to the Dean Machine in Ohio
Here is the Action Alert that went out to all of the Dean People in Ohio.

ACTION ALERT! URGENT ACTION NEEDED IN OHIO

Concerned voters in Ohio, your legislators need your help!

Members of the Ohio State Legislature have decided to withhold any funding from
Secretary of State Blackwell that would allow him to go forward with the
purchase of voting machines. The Legislators have been holding public hearings
so they could learn as much as possible about DRE machines. Both sides of the
issue are being heard.

However, at the same time SoS Blackwell has given four counties until Tuesday to
pick a vendor, and if they cannot decide on a vendor, Blackwell will make that
decision for them. SoS Blackwell has made the decision to ignore the Legislators
and forge ahead with his plans.

$15.3M of the $122M HAVA funding for the state of Ohio is slated to be used by
SoS Blackwell for a public relations campaign explaining DRE voting to the
voters of Ohio and featuring himself. There is speculation, at the same time,
that SoS Blackwell is aspiring to the office of Governor in 2006.

TAKE ACTION NOW!!!
Let your state legislators know that you want them to stop SoS Blackwell from
racing toward voting systems without voter-verified paper ballots, since the
people don't want them. Insist that the Committee on Ballot Security hear
testimony from vendors with certified machines that provide verifiable ballots,
such as TruVote and AccuPoll.

**1) Send FAX's to your legislators this weekend. Fill their FAX machines with
your demands.

**2) Call your legislators on Monday morning, March 29, and tell them you want
them to stand up to the Secretary of State.

**3) Attend the next Legislature-sponsored public hearing. This is IMPORTANT, so
take the day off work if necessary. The meeting is Wed, March 31, 8:30 - 12:00
Vendor demonstrations are at 8:30-9:30. A TruVote demonstration is planned, so
show up!!
