Transcript of Kerrey's hit on Faux
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A20349-2004Mar24.html
And let me also say this document of Fox News earlier, this transcript that they had, this is a background briefing. And all of us that have provided background briefings for the press before should beware. I mean, Fox should say "occasionally fair and balanced" after putting something like this out.

(LAUGHTER)

Because they violated a serious trust.

(APPLAUSE)

All of us that come into this kind of an environment and provide background briefings for the press I think will always have this as a reminder that sometimes it isn't going to happen, that it's background.

Sometimes, if it suits their interest, they're going to go back, pull the tape, convert it into transcript and send it out in the public arena and try to embarrass us or discredit us.

So I object to what they've done, and I think it's an unfortunate thing they did.

1. fox hurt themselves by airing the document
Clarke explained it in such a way it made him appear stronger.

2. NO their machinery worked great on that one
it already crept into actually media. Katie Couric asked one of the 9/11 widows if Clarke's credibility can be trusted now that we have seen him take two sides on W's performance.

3. I just think it's great that everyone laughed
Everyone knows Fox is a joke. We need to make that the mantra... Fox is a joke, not real news. Then independents who don't know any better will be less likely to watch if they think Fox is the Enquirer of the cable news.

I'm psyched that Kerrey called them on it and everyone laughed.

7. "FOX is a joke"
But the "Daily Show" doesn't have to worry about them. They're not funny.

4. i really dislike Bob Kerrey
but I must applaud him for that comment yesterday. I was eating during the clarke hearings and I almost dropped my bowl when I heard that.

5. Gotta say, I loved Kerrey's pointing out the bigger picture...
that this kind of "outing" could happen to anyone in government if it suits somebody's purposes.

Nice slap at the maladministration as well as Faux.
