Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, FOX News, & Dittoheads and the WTC !
They were the people responsible for the WTC bombing of 9/11! How? Why? This issue has been touched periphereally here on DU but it deserves a closer look. How could they be responsible? Isn't that really just an outlandish claim?

First of all, we need to put the election of 2000 into perspective. Al Gore won the popular vote in that election and many people thought he won the electoral vote in Florida also. However, the rightwingers mentioned above played the game that all the "votes had been counted over and over and over" and there was no use to count them any more. After 8 years of Clinton, the Repubs were not going to be denied and they permitted, even encouraged and assisted Bush, in stealing that election. Remember the "mob" that stormed the building where the votes were being counted in southern Florida? They managed to stop those votes from being counted. Remember their silence when 70,000 so-called "convicts" were taken off the rolls?

The right-wingers will snicker and laugh at such a suggestion that they were responsible for 9/11 but let's look just a little closer.
They had been successful in impeaching Bill Clinton for lying about oral sex. They said it was about lying - it wasn't about sex. It was about sex.

All through both terms of Bill Clinton's presidency, the right wingers mentioned above were on a crusade to destroy him. Think back to all the players - they were all over every TV network and they were looking under rocks down in Arkansas for any little thing they could charge Clinton as eing involved with - they even had Congressmen shooting watermelons in their backyards to prove that Vince Foster had been murdered by the Clintons. Books have been written about all their transgressions.

Then they had their chance with George W Bush. He had a shitload of money and they threw their support behind him, almost from the beginning. After all, he was a "compassionate conservative". They sold him like he was a new potato chip. And he owed them.

From the very first day he was in the White House, Bush started paying off the rightwingers that put him in office. He promised that he would overturn everything Clinton had pushed thru in his 8 years. From abortion, to environment, to the tax increases that Clinton had burdened the most wealthy with, he went on a crusade to wipe out any Clinton legacy. Limbaugh, Hannity, and all the "dittoheads" were very happy with what Dubya was doing. And they still support him.

The adults were finally in charge. They came in with all their military experts and Sovietologists from 8 years previous and they were going to do things their way. They would overturn everything Clinton was trying to do in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world.

First they would write off the Kyoto Treaty. Then they would write off any attempt to bring peace to the Israel Palestine area. Bush ignored it for 8 months, as Israel's leader Sharon stomped the crap out of the Palestinians. After all, he was a leader just like Bush. The only thing they would understand would be raw power. Bush cheered them on with his silence.

Then Bush and Cheney decided that the Clinton policy toward Afghanistan and al Qaeda was not the proper policy. They withdrew all the subs and missiles from that area of the world, and in fact, had given the Taliban $43 million dollars in May of 1991. One month later, 17 of the 19 hijackers from 9/11 migrated to the United States. Colin Powell was the representative of the Administration that delivered the "gift". The Taliban was reportedly told that they could receive a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs. At the same time, they were cozying up to the Northern Alliance, whose leader was killed just days before 9/11.

And as Bush said in his interview with Bob Woodward in Woodward's book, he was not "on point" about the problem of terrorism. He actually validates exactly what Richard Clarke has said in his new book that the rightwingers are attacking as false. He only agrees with Bush. So how does this make Limbaugh, Hannity and the "dittoheads" responsible?

Without them, George W Bush would never have come to power and he never would have put their agenda into play. They are directly responsible for George W Bush and his policies of ignoring terrorism and permitting terrorists to attack this nation. Even today, they continue to defend their "leader" because, in effect, they are defending themselves. They have done too much damage to this country to put into these few words.

2. They cannot escape responsibility
And we should bring it to America's attention just how dangerous these rightwing propagandists are and point out the damage they have already done.

3. They also played a role after the selection
The WH spin machine pumped out its agenda and the RW hate-fest parroted every word, every day. That agenda had nothing to do with AQ or terrorism in general. It was tax cuts and missle defense and how weak Clinton was on defense..........

The public's attention was drawn to the Bush agenda and nothing else.

5. And don't forget that the "mob" that stopped the votes from
being counted was comprised of Republican U.S.Congressional employees.

6. They don't feel corportizing America is a bad thing, they are true fascist

Limbaugh, Hannity and the republicans. People wanting unions and demanding a better standard of living is what's appalling to them. (though they will deny it, as they do everything). Corporations represent everything they live and lust for in life, money, greed, power and control of the people.

http://secularhumanism.org/library/fi/britt_23_2.htm

As far as Clinton goes it wasn't about sex or lying, it was to discredit him, his ideology, of taxing the rich, helping minorities, making corporations accountable for their exploitation and pollutions, his support of unions, etc. These republicans are the stockholders and the CEO's and the corporations and in their eyes Clinton was taking from them what is most important to them, MONEY. They had to discredit him, to ensure middle America would never vote for a "immoral" democrat again.

You mentioned corporations being "burdened" by Clinton with taxes...there was no burden, I would like to be so rich as to be 'burdened"...these greedy corporations and the rich do NOT want to pay taxes at all...they want us workers to pay taxes to support their military to increase their profits worldwide.

It was meant to be tongue-in-cheek....that's why it was put in quotation marks.

8. Limbaugh, Hannity & Co. always like to take credit until a disaster occurs
Remember McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing? McVeigh, a Gulf War vet, was known to have expressed deep hate toward the government, which I think was fueled in large part by all of the wingnut talk shows. When that accusation came up, Limbaugh and all of those other right wing talk show talking heads vehemently denied that they could have such influence over people. I think Limbaugh even went so far as to say he's just an entertainment medium and lighten up.

Yet, just a couple of years earlier, Limbaugh & Co. were lapping up all of the credit for the shift in power in the U.S. Congress in 1994 when Republicans became the majority party in the House and Senate. These talking heads were attending Republican receptions everywhere and taking all of the credit heaped upon them. I remember listening to some of them on the radio.

What is it? Are you opinion leaders, or are you merely entertainment? You can't have it both ways.

9. Limbaugh was voted an honorary member of Congress after 1994
So they know it's not a comedy show. Why do people think Dick Cheney went on his show the other day -- to tell jokes??
