Talking Points Memo Snags Foxnews in a LIE
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 02:21 AM by Submariner
Foxnews switched Clarkes comment to mislead Foxnews Bushbots.

Here's how Fox News described Lehmann's comment ...

"You've got a real credibility problem," John Lehman, former Navy secretary under President Reagan, told Clarke, calling the witness "an active partisan selling a book."

Clarke responded: "I don't think it's a question of morality at all, I think it's a question of politics."

When in actuality it was:

THOMPSON: Well, what it suggests to me is that there is one standard of candor and morality for White House special assistants and another standard of candor and morality for the rest of America. I don't get that.

CLARKE: I don't think it's a question of morality at all. I think it's a question of politics.

1. This is the 2nd case where a Clarke transcript has been falsified

I guess someone is getting so bold with their lies that they think they can get away with doctoring transcripts of things that have been broadcast live that same day.

4. This really is bad.
I seen some bold attempts at lies, but multiple attempts on the part of the New York Times, Washington Post and Fox News to seperately attempt to doctor the transcripts really takes the cake, so to speak.

It was the applause that Clarke got that was the point that drove them insane. The idea that the 9/11 families cheered for Clarke against Thompson is making them do crazy things.

6. We need to take action against Faux news and their lies...
send the link to the lie to other media outlets. I think it's crucial that we bombard the media; confront them with their lies and misinformation. Sending an e-mail is easy; let's tell them we ARE paying attention!

I visited a freeper site this evening, and those people think Faux News has a direct line to God and Truth.

7. they sure do
Fox News is the republican party's official attack/rebuttal/spin machine. No qualms there. What we must do is point this out to other news channels who are in competition with FoxNews and let them air the truth. Its hard because msnbc and cnn are also biding for that title (anyone remember the drumbeating months prior to the war), but hypocrites they are they might see the benefit and profit in calling foxnews out on their partisanship.

to prevent a third party reinterpretation. But it's not.

And that's why the Daily Show satire is really on the same level as mainstream/cable news. It's all edited and reprocessed. Some sausages may be better than others. It depends on your taste. None of it is real meat, but the Daily Show tastes better to me. They wink at me.

Why won’t Peter, Tom, Dan and the other cable guys wink at me when they broadcast their shit reports? Do they think they’re objective? Will the emperor think it’s objective? I think they consider that when they go to sleep. Of course, they will curse their position as * parrots, but that’s what they are. Cutting to the chase, they are neutered. They are Bushco.

State approved news should be labeled that way. Not for me, but for the morons/morans.
