The ultimate retort to Clarke bashers: you can't HANDLE the truth!
doesn't it boil down to that?

why are they fighting, from the getgo, the light of day being shed on the entire process?

we know they fought hard to keep the commission from ever being intstituted.

then, they tried to put a fricking WAR CRIMINAL at the head

then, they put that Zelikow creep on the commission, giving him the most access to info (gigantic conflict of interest)

then, they stonewalled at every step of the way

then, they tried to cut the process short

so, why are they so against finding out what happened?

huh?

there's only one logical conclusion one can draw, isn't there?

ask your feeble-minded friends on the right this simple question:

don't you agree with the 911 families, want to know why this happened, so that we can be protected in our xenophobic reverie, and never have to worry about the outside world again?

3. thank you.......it's so simple
Kristen Breitweiser and two other women were so sadly, painfully eloquent last night

they DONT WANT to hear the partisan BULLSHIT!

they don't want others to DIE because we have a mutant government in power that cares ONLY about maintaining that power, at ANY COST, including MORE horrid cataclysms

can you IMAGINE what will happen if the EXTENT of their foreknowledge becomes street news?

We know the deal here, but if the media allow the true story to come out, it'll be the villagers at Castle Frankenstein on 1600.

how cool would THAT be?

a constant impeachment vigil

Code Pink Ladies....time to rev it up again?

I met some during the Vets Against War March last year; very inspirational

Ellsberg was there, too. they let him out of the DC jail to participate!

8. The Bin ladens flying out ? That made the testimony? excellent!
I bet 95%+ Americans had no clue that the Bin Ladens were allowed to fly out of the country during the air lock down.

I've been reading about this stuff for years (via Michael Moore, etc.) and you know it's true as you read it but you think it'll never hit the mainstream press.

Well, guess what? I think the whole shit house is about to go up in flames!

6. Can you imagine the agony Clarke must have gone through on 9/11
He had to sit there and watch those people jump from the towers knowing what he knew. He must have been so filled with both guilt and rage.

Thank Zeus that he finally stopped trying to work within the system and come out and attack it from the outside.

10. could this truth thing possibly be a virus?

One of the first official acts of the current Bush administration was to downgrade the office of national coordinator for counterterrorism on the National Security Council ....

Terrorism was a Clinton issue: "soft" and obscure, having something to do with "globalisation", and other trends ridiculed from the Republican party platform. "In January 2001 the new administration really thought Clinton's recommendation that eliminating al-Qaida be one of their highest priorities, well, rather odd, like so many of the Clinton administration's actions, from their perspective," Clarke writes in his new book, Against All Enemies. ...

But his account need not stand on his reputation alone.
...

Rice now claims about terrorism that "we were at battle stations". But Bush is quoted by Bob Woodward in Bush At War as saying that before September 11 "I was not on point ... I didn't feel that sense of urgency". Cheney alleges that Clarke was "out of the loop". But if he was, then the administration was either running a rogue operation or doing nothing, as Clarke testifies.

Bush protests now: "And had my administration had any information that terrorists were going to attack New York City on September 11, we would have acted." But he had plenty of information. The former deputy attorney general, Jamie Gorelick, the only member of the 9/11 commission to read the president's daily brief, revealed in the hearings that the documents "would set your hair on fire" and that the intelligence warnings of al-Qaida attacks "plateaued at a spike level for months" before September 11. Bush is fighting public release of these PDBs, which would show whether he had marked them up and demanded action.

The administration's furious response to Clarke only underscores his book. Rice is vague, forgetful and dissembling. Cheney is belligerent, certain and bluffing....<snip> Bush is the Oz behind the curtain, but unlike the wizard, the special effects are performed by others. Especially on terrorism and September 11, his White House is at "battle stations" to prevent the curtain from being pulled open.

Go Sid Blumenthal!
