1. On now
There's to be a panel later, including Joe Biden and some Repub. Senator. Don't know if the panel will talk with Clarke or just pundit. Clarke's starting out really strong. LK, as usual, is asking lame questions, but we'll see....

2. He's comparing Bush with Clinton
35 killed by al Qaeda during Clinton...3000 under Bush

Clarke's now refuting..."pot calling kettle black...They have the credibility problem...Could the Bush Admin have done more before 911? After 911?" Background briefing leaked in violation of rules. Time Magazine had had a story about a plan Bush had-they asked Clarke to emphasize the positive and helped them out. That is what he chose to do. WH doesn't understand why Clarke didn't criticize Bush to press....if he had, he would have been fired within an hour...all to get LK to ask this question....Condi Rice...they are scrambling hard at the WH....trying to refute....I knew the WH would let loose the dogs, like what they did to O'Neill....all to get us to talk about the flak instead of talking about the failures of the Bush Admin.....Now comparing Bush and the Millenium actions.....

4. A clip of CRice....ugh
She's shaking! She's obviously lying!

Clarke's reply: Let's get to the main issue. Says Bush was told that an al Qaeda attack....but that bin Laden wasn't his main target...quoting Bush....

NOW-by fighting in Iraq, diminishing our ability to fight terrorism

1. reducing funds that could be used to protect trains, etc, etc.

2. inflames Islamic world, creating more terrorists more rapidly than we can kill them

3. took troops and intelligence away from bin Laden. al Qaeda has morphed into a Hydra, and they don't need bin Laden.

LK can't stop him!

Now saying that CR says he's disgruntled about not getting a job.

His answer: Bush and Ridge didn't like the Dept. Homeland Security...changed when Lieberman was going to get it through and pushed it through.

No, he didn't want the job, if they wanted to consider me, he'd be willing to be considered. But I didn't think the Dept. of HS was a good idea.

Problems start with Clinton? Yes. Clinton failed to bomb Afghan camps after bombing once (wag the dog)-would have killed thousands of terrorists.

I'm willing to take the blame. I wish Bush was willing to take some of the blame too.

8. Well, now he claims that it goes even before Clinton.
He says that Reagan was at fault for not retaliating for the Beirut bombing of our soldiers' barracks and even George Bush I for not retaliating for another terrorist attack that happened on his watch.

In other words, EVERY president had a lapse in retaliation, according to Clarke.

5. CIA let Clinton down
Clinton ordered bin Laden and his lieutenants to be killed, but the CIA let Clinton down.

Clarke says that no one in Washington is lying - he called it creative memory. Need to know the truth so it won't happen again. Thanks family members who called for this commission
