Aaaarrrgh! The propaganda is so suffocating, I'm almost losing it.
Those of us who saw Clarke's testimony in full, have a totally different understanding of what happened today, than the millions and millions of people all over the country who are getting a proBush slant on every channel, from the cable "news" shows, to even the regular network news shows.

Everybody knows that Clarke's statement that Bush was wrong to invade Iraq because it undermined the war on terrorism, followed by that intense moment of silence, SHOULD BE THE SOUNDBITE on every channel.

We should hang our heads in shame for letting things get to this point. It seems as if one person owns all of the media. How long is this madness going to go on?

I guess it's up to Jon Stewart to show the footage tonight.

The cable stations are being shamelessly Pro-Bush, with occasional exceptions. The network news shows seem to have been more balanced.

6. Saying that the network news is more balanced is not saying much at
all. The cable news are whoring so bad it's ridiculous. It's the networks that are pissing me off right now. They are helping Bush, no doubt about it. You'd never see what we're talking about, unless you actually watched the testimony.

13. Yes, dear Minstrel Boy!
Being informed can indeed make you nuts. We are truly living in BIZARRO WORLD. I checked as a kid some decades ago and OMIFICKENDIETY what a fine mess we find ourselves in.

PUHLEEESSSE DAVE, CALL THESE SUCKERS OUT IN YOUR INIMITABLE FASHION!

What I can't figure out is why everyone can't see Halliburton money got nose up the *stankyjenkyslimyass, (providing SHIT services to your loved ones serving to protect their financial interests) whose PNAC wants to kill a whole shit-load of us and further damage the beautiful orb upon whose survival we depend. This IS a no-brainer.

And as YOUR INTERNATIONAL FRONTMAN they proffer this *dimwit dauphin who is unable to string a coherent paragraph together without "guidance."

TURN OFF THE TV AND TALK TO YOUR NEIGHBORS. Cue up Marvin if it will help. Take your eyes off the screen and ask the people around you what's going on.

There HAS TO BE a tipping point. Methinks the sooner, the better.

24. I want to scream sometimes, and I do
I'm not an angry person, but I can certainly get angry with the sort of stupidity I see in network news. My feeling is the 'faces' are completely clueless and ill equipped to deal with spin and report accurately. I almost want someone else writing for the faces, but that conflicts with my final opinion. My final opinion is if these faces can't hack it, get the f&%k out and let someone that can!

If I or some chick in Hoboken want a pretty face in a woman reporter or a male, let us go to some other place for that.

It is amazing how 'Broadcast News' is fairly accurate with what news has become. And that critiqued the main networks. It had no idea what Faux News would become.

7. I've quit watching the corporate news outlets expecting a different or
adversarial point of view. Its not going to happen. It hardly ever happens. I mean, sure every once in a while a snippet or two gets through, but you shouldn't expect anything from these people.

Their main function in our "democratic" society is to propagandize, and to make sure certain things appear, certain things not appear, how they are presented, etc etc. Its all very systematic.

8. Wow, what a great clip that was. I just saw it.
I only got to see a part of Clarke's testimony, then slipped in a tape to tape the rest while I went out on an errand. I'm viewing the rest of his testimony now, as I type.

Clarke made such an impression on my dad, that he called me to tell me that Clarke is a genius. We both talked about the old time government public servants who use to be as commmitted to our country as Clarke seems to be. Anyone who is under forty-five can't possibly know the old time civil servants who put the interests of this country before their own. Not like today where ambitious, devious individuals now infect the corridors of our government. What a loss it's been to our country to overlook qualities in the old time civil servants. It's all about greed these and getting ahead at other people's expense.

9. The posts here are just as disturbing
The function of the news media is to report news not slant news. Now if the reporters took an angle they would be no better than Faux news. From what I've seen for the mostpart (Faux omitted) the media has taken the middle. And Brokaw had Condi (dirty) Rice on the hotseat right at the outset of their nightly news and she stammered along badly answering. Brokaw did not back off of the question why she wasn't going before the comission considering her predicessors had and asked it twice when she tried the soft shoe way out. Kudos to Brokaw for that.
Now if everyone wants a left slanted news angle then maybe someone should put up the cash to create a sick stepchild version of leftwing Faux. But what good would that do but make the media even less truthful and hurt our society and culture just as bad as Rupert(Randolph Hurst) Murdoch has? I vote for truth and media sans bias and I'd figure anyone with any morals to as well.

:wtf:

10. See. Another person who didn't see the whole testimony.
All we want is the damn truth. Nobody said anything about a "leftwing" viewpoint.

Why don't you see if you can find a copy somewhere and actually look at it, and then tell us whether you think the news people are coming down the middle.

You're a perfect example of what this thread is about. If you didn't actually watch the testimony, then you have no idea how this thing is being manipulated.

18. Well I don't believe you. How about that? I had an inkling when I
wrote my post that you would come back and claim you saw it. Nobody I've talked to who actually saw the testimony is claiming that it's being reported "down the middle". Even Clarke said on Larry King, that they weren't reporting it right. Clarke is a republican. I guess he's trying to force a leftist view too.

Nice try. But it ain't gonna fly.

we are talking about what those who watched and listened to the testimony actually saw and heard, that is all.

on edit: It seems telling the truth has become a "left slant"
What does that tell you?

You accuse and come late to the party but don't read what I replied to. He wanted to media to take a clear side and accused any that dared to let Bushco hang themselves to be in their pockets. THAT was what was being debated...and I don;t want them tot ake a side just let the idiots talk themselves into a deeper hole without slanting it. THATS called truth.

But he seems to be clamoring for the media to "massage" the issue by taking a side. I don't want that in my news. Good reason why I don;t watch Faux news....now does that make sense?

22. The fact of the matter is that, after yesterday's damning evidence against
bunkerboy, every media whore was on about how CLINTON was at fault this morning, even tho this was a MINOR part of yesterday's testimony.

Today is more of the same.

That is hardly being impartial.

They choose what to lead with, and they choose to emphasize what was NOT the most salient points of the day's topic.

The most revealing points were the constant stating, over and over, that bunkerboy and his gang of thugs dropped the ball, IN SPITE OF ALL THE HELP AND WARNINGS, IN WRITING, THAT CLINTON'S TEAM TRIED TO GIVE THEM BUT WHICH THE FAILED TO HEED.

Impartial my now older and pimpled sagging, yet once sexy, butt!

Sigh.

19. Wrong (tempered)
"Everybody knows that Clarke's statement that Bush was wrong to invade Iraq because it undermined the war on terrorism, followed by that intense moment of silence, SHOULD BE THE SOUNDBITE on every channel."

The apology is the soundbite for every channel. Okay, not so wrong, I'd love to see the first soundbite as the apology, because that was moving. And I would love to see the Iraq statement and the deadening silence as a soundbite as well.

That apology was one of the most moving things I've seen in a long time. I miss the Clinton years. These bastards have made government service a joke.

That, and the Iraq thing, were the most dramatic moments in the entire testimony.

I almost wanted to cry, and I'm a dude, when I heard his apology. If I saw even one 9/11 victim during that scene, I probably would have.

The current administration sees these people as a nuisance, and that really bothers me. It really bothers me to listen to these people get the shaft.

Clarke is an extremely effective speaker and debater and he owned the entire commission today. I remember that silence that lasted forever on his comment on Iraq. I kept hoping that it would stay silent. Too often, people have to say something during uncomfortable silences. That silence was both telling and pure.
