Albright acts as if * admin is a legitimate WH who "just made mistakes"
There is no anger there. This "mistakes were made on both sides" capitulation is proof of this commissions role to finalize a report that will say "no one was to blame and yet we all were to blame" BULLSHIT game. If this commission was serious, they would gather in the room all the people in the meetings during the transition briefings, put them all together for a "jog their memory" grill of who said what to whom, what was followed up, what was done with the recommendations, etc. Let them sit there and contradict each other, and then once there is contradictions, the commission digs until TRUTH is revealed. This bullshit forum where everyione is taking turns where they toss some softballs to Albright, then she leaves the room, now it is Powell's turn, more extra-puffy soft softballs, then he leaves, ad nauseum, boy, that is a REAL SEARCH FOR TRUTH, isn't it??? Did you see how COMFORTABLE Powell looked in that room?
FUCK THIS.
And fuck people like Albright who participate with this fucking "9/11 was a wake up call for ALL of us." Eat me you bitch!!! You sound like fucking Condi "Who the Hell is Al Qaeda" Rice.
Jesus motherfuck, I can't take this shit!!!!!

16. I agree that Albright sees the big picture.
But us peons have suffered enough under Republican dirty political war and we want to see some vindication. What the Republican party did to us to keep this country off balance in the 1990s should be discussed at large. They created a distraction and that did more than just piss away the peace dividend. They made us vulnerable to our enemies.

2. Whoa.
She is defending the Clinton record on terrorism.

This is a bipartisan hearing into what happened.

People cannot go apeshit.

4. Forget Albright
I wasn't surprised by what she had to say. She was never very progressive. Powell sounds as programmed as he usually does, but he seemed to relax when questions were put to him by friendly interlocutors. I thought Rumsfeld did well, but the politicians on the 9/11 commission gave him plenty of slack. Albright was way too accommodating, I thought.

9. Remember story about Albright & Rice
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 12:38 AM by terisel
There was a story, iirc, about Albright and Rice which indicated that they had some connection. It concerned Albright calling Rice, who was a young woman at the time, and lauching a discussion about a role for her in working on some Democratic campaign. Rice supposedly interrupted her to break the news that she was a Republican.

Whether it was true or not I don't know but it is a reminder that political people have many connections with each other. For all I know Rice may have traveled in some Democratic political circles years ago-a young woman with a civil rights history who was becoming an expert on Russia and interested in politics may have had a lot of Democratic associates and some Democratic mentors. I think people in Washington who achieve positions of power might have a measure of sympathy for Rice even she is is guilty of an enormous screw-up.

It is sort of like physicians who don't want to testify against other physicians.

Might I suggest you spent a bit more energy attacking the GOP and a little less attacking Democrats?

11. what is Albright running for?
I will vote for her. How's that? Will that suit you?
If one does not rail against politicians on one's side, that person is just a shill, with no better credentials then a Limbaugh or a Hannity.

6. She hates Bush*
Remember when she joked backstage at Faux that * would pull Bin Laden out for an October Surprise? Kondracke then blabbed that she was dead serious. Of course, this is widely believed to be a likely possibility.

Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 01:07 AM by homelandpunk
And a longevity expert, too.
There was a longevity expert who said Keith Richards should be dead. So, maybe all the drugs, booze and nicotine is what Keith NEEDS to live long. Maybe fits of rage is what I NEED to extend my life.
And hey.............quitters never win. What if I asked you to quit DU? You can't mold DU to your image anymore than I can. Give it up...use the ignore button if that is your thing. Myself, I NEVER use the ignore button....I love everybody here unconditionally. MMMMMmmm-wah!!

12. No surprise.
She was miles from being any sort of progressive. Never a fan, and I always regretted that some people got so hung up on her being a woman that they gave her policies a pass.

on Randi Rhodes' site. There should be an interview there with Madeline Albright where she said a lot of stuff more to everyone's liking. I heard the original interview and while it was not a Howard Dean-type interview, she did say a lot of stuff you all would approve of. She can't come out like an attack dog during the commission interview. She knows the score, but she's a lot more credible if she doesn't start sounding off - no matter how much some of us would like to hear it.
