Is the 9/11 comission missing the point?
Edited on Tue Mar-23-04 04:02 PM by rockymountaindem
The testimony (I'm watching on CNN, but I have missed a lot since I've had to go to class) seems to be focusing on what happened or should have happened abroad, such as pressuring the Taliban, negotiating with Pakistan and people in Sudan etc.

I want to know what they did to increase security here in the US prior to 9/11. If Ashcroft stopped flying on planes in July '01, why didn't the administration increase airport security then? How did they handle warnings from other countries about impending attacks?

Shouldn't they be talking about this more than why we didn't bomb Afghanistan in 1998 or whatever? Those other things are *huge* hypotheticals. Warnings and responses at home immediately prior to 9/11 are more important and easily speculated upon, I think.

On edit:
I also noticed that when Albright was testifying the stock market was up. When Powell was testifying it went down. When Cohen got behind the mike it was up, and now it's down again since Rummy started talking? Coincidence? I think not.

1. Yes, and that's probably their goal.
*'s hand-picked commission members probably realize at this point there is no way, even if they restrict the investigation, that * and his band of thugs will emerge unscathed. So they've deliberately changed the focus of the investigation so they can bring Clinton & his administration in on the blame. Even though only 20/20 hindsight can be used against Clinton, while there is cold hard evidence against the Bushies that they ignored specific warnings. The commission will equate the two, they'll blame everyone, and the end result? The same thing Condi told us after 9/11 - "There is no way anyone could have known."

That's my theory, at least.

2. Perhaps Clarke will bring them up tomorrow.
One can only hope.

3. Does this commision
sound more and more like an attempt at a whitewash and coverup of any evidence of the neocons actually being the conspirators behind the 9-11 attacks.

9. INDEED
41 (Mr. Creeps, the PuppetMaster, 33rd degree Mason) says so.
Skull & Bones says so.
Mossad says so.
PNAC says so.

4. Of course it is.
You know how many people would be murdered if the commission dared to even get close to the questions that need asking?

More than a few. And more than a few will have lives ruined or loved ones' lives ruined if the commission has the balls to REALLY ask hard questions of the Imperial Family and their Stooges.

Just one question and the "suicides" and "accidents would start".

"Mr Ashcroft, on what information did you cease flying commercial airliners in July 2001 and why was this information witheld from the appropriate law enforcement agencies and the American People?"

Then whups...a nephew "commits suicide". Oh my gosh and a staffer falls from an unscreened window greater than 50 feet high onto a hard surface. Then...

That is one question you'll not see these moribund Aristocrats ask the Emperor's Stooges.

5. Not one real question being asked
Fighter planes on the unarmed on the ground. Not one anti-aircraft weapon activated. Airline stocks shorted. Re-insurance carrier of WTC stock shorted. Wall Street Journal reported Myers (nor President)put US Forces on alert more than an hour after Pentagon strike. O'Neill said Iraq was on agenda of first cabinet meeting.

Nothing about any of it.

6. What Ashcroft didn't do
On Operation Ignore Day 208, Ashcroft sent his Justice Department budget request to Bush. It included spending increases in sixty-eight different programs. Out of these sixty-eight programs, less than half dealt with terrorism. Way less than half. In fact, none of them dealt with terrorism. Ashcroft passed around a memo listing his seven top priorities. Again, terrorism didn't make the list.
This was just three weeks before 9-11 and still no thought of Terrorism.

7. What the hell happened ON 9/11?
How did it happen on that day? What kind of protections were in place ON 9/11?

8. The 9/11 families wanted representation when Cleland quit.
They have the right questions.

Instead, they got Bob Kerrey.

tom_paine's right. If the commission "got the point," we'd see a sudden, steep rise in suicides, small plane crashes and accidental falls from great hights.
