I'm watching CNN International.

What a difference from our media whore branch in Atlanta. It's like the old CNN was when Ted Turner was in charge. CNN financial switches to CNN International on the weekends. I wish they would put it on all week. They have reports from Afghanistan, Kosovo and Pakistan with international reporters we are also familiar with like Nick Robertson and Christianne Amanpour.

They had an in depth report on Osama bin Ladin and Zawahiri that probed deeper into the backgrounds of these terrorists beyon the bad, bad men sound bytes we are being fed here. Christianne has her own interview show on Saturday morning. It is so journalistically professional, I wish we had her instead of that insipid Paula Zahn.

On edit: They are also cutting in and showing protests from different places in the world.

1. Until we confront the press regarding their complicity...
Very little will change in this country.

Take to the streets. Show up at their front doors.

4. Now you can see why
everyone else in the world thinks completely differently from Americans and cannot understand them.

If you ever get the chance, check out the Spanish channels. It is SO very different.

Even the music videos in the US are changed for MTV or BET and the Spanish markets. Frequently, the same song has completely different visuals.

Divide and conquer.

10. Living abroad most of the time recently, and completely agree --
our domestic media not only fails in the task expected of it in our system, it contributes mightily to the provincialism and "dumbing down" of America.

6. BBC America
I'm glad that I can at least get BBC America on my local PBS affiliate. It's amazing to me to see the difference between how the US Networks cover news and the BBC does-it gives you an entirely different perspective on the world--and how news is really (and too sadly) covered here in the states.

13. Welcome sc, first time I have seen one of your posts.
I think SC has a great possibility of going blue this year. I have just spent Jan and Feb running up and down the Grand Strand on days off. :hi:

9. CNN Atlanta showed the same Bin Laden/Zawahiri piece
It was part of their "People in the News" segment. It just finished airing in the 5:00-6:00 ET timeslot, for the second time today.

The coverage has been Iraq-heavy today, and every half-hour or so, they've shown footage of the worldwide protests. It's not been that lame a day for CNN.

Thanks for the heads-up about CNN Financial switching to International on the weekends! I didn't know that, and I receive CNN Financial, but not International. I'm tuning in right now. :D

12. Pretty decent stuff on CBC and CBC NewsWorld
.
.
.

Get some pretty revealing documentaries on NewsWorld, one of their best series is the Passionate Eye.

I don't know if it's available on cable in the US, somehow I doubt it.

Maybe by Satellite?

But they do have a lot on their website, including plenty of videos which I don't check as I've only got the dial-up.

If you have decent bandwidth you might want to check it out
