House Panel Backs Bush Tax Cuts. NY Times Calls This "Victory" for Bush.
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 02:12 PM by BurtWorm
Why is it is a victory to get Republicans to back Bush's fiscal lunacy in an election year?

I wonder if Dems can get a campaign going to stop these cuts.

House Panel Back Bush on Further Tax Cuts
By DAVID STOUT

WASHINGTON, March 17 — The House Budget Committee handed President Bush a victory today when it endorsed his push for further tax cuts.

The panel approved a bill that would require lawmakers to hold down increases in spending in future years, yet leave them free to extend the tax reductions that the president has been able to push through Congress.

The committee's action was a setback for Democrats, who have argued that the White House-inspired tax cuts are the real reason for the ballooning federal budget deficits.

If the full House should go along with the budget panel's stance, the House would be at odds with the Senate, even though both chambers are controlled by Republicans. Action in the full House was possible before nightfall and would foreshadow more negotiations between the House and Senate, Democrats and Republicans, White House and Capitol Hill....

1. Now we know why Greenspan did a flip-flop a few days ago.
He was laying the foundation down for this next Republican move. They can say that the tax cuts aren't affecting the deficit, but we know better. Now we can say that the Emperor and his entourage have no clothes.

2. GOP: Bankrupting America
3 Tax cuts - 3 miserable failures at creating jobs and boosting the ecomony.

3. Bankruptcy is the only logical outcome to everything they've been doing
Look at what Powell did this morning. Powell basically used the political anger over the outsourcing of tech jobs in order to bribe India. He said, we'll fight off the middle-class Americans over the outsourcing of their jobs to your country, but in return, you have to loosen up your trade. But that trade isn't going to improve things for middle America. It will improve trade for the multinational corporations that support the Bush Administration and the elites in the Republican party. We get screwed on both ends.
