"I don't know why but I give Colin Powell the benefit of the doubt"
Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 05:55 PM by underpants
My wife (looking up from the computer)," I don't why either"

Seriously as much as I see how they lie I still give him the edge. Maybe I just have it engraded in my head but it just keeps happening that way.

Why is he still on that team?

They have continually froze him out and used him. I can't get my head straight on that.

The cute and pettable George Stephanoupoupooupis asked him about Kerry giving him a pass and saying that the "keys to them plane have been kept from him" ON EDIT-Powell said the "Keys are in my pocket".

I still don't get it.

2. I've been wondering more and more
whether they've got some dirt on him they're blackmailing him with to keep him in line.

3. I just saw a replay of him on this morning's news show on...
...what I believe was FOX's Sunday morning show. He is now just another repuke robot. I was surprised when he accepted this Cabinet job. I had more respect for him than that. After seeing the morning show replay, I realize that whatever good he once had in him has been thoroughly corrupted. He's just another POS now, IMO.

4. Son Michael doesn't fall far from the tree...
Colin Powell a highly respectable human being, I used to think, has allowed the bushistas to turn him into a jerk. Not so. Colin's son Michael we very well know, is an idiot. Father and son love the money and the power and to hell with everything else. Don't cry for me Argentina...I cry all the way to the bank.

5. He plays the good cop to Cheney's bad cop...
...they are opposite sides of the same coin.

Powell has had a role in covering up My Lai, Desert Storm Syndrome, and several other Army scandals. He hasn't stopped there.

8. Even if a snake promises to help you...
...if you help him across the swollen currents of a flooded river and thus save its life, when you reach the other side and are on dry land, the snake will bite you. That's because it is his nature. Never, never trust a right-wing conservative.:freak:

6. He looks and acts and speaks very moderately
But if you look closely at his record, what he's been associated with, his virtual sabotage of the Clinton presidency early on, you shouldn't doubt at all whose side he's on.

7. i've never been terribly impressed by him
and i find it puzzling why so many democrats were and are. if he's so "moderate" then why is he a part of the bush regime? birds of a feather, imho.

9. personally
i think he prostituted himself for the purpose of getting michael in on the ground floor of something he thought was going to stay around awhile.

that was certainly bad judgement on his part.

now he is just another republican whore. he lied, he knows it, we know it, and he knows we know it.

how much more of a whore can one become?

10. Because we, as human beings believe, basically in
the goodness of people. We were treated to a black man who made it big, who was billed as sober, reflective and steady, when in reality he was only playing that part and that is how he got where he did.

We love to see someone make it from a minority--boy this guy has really really betrayed the trust--and to analyse why--first of all, I blame myself for believing the hype about Powell simply because I wanted a member of the black race to suceed big time, and second, I now realize that this guy is out for himself. His son Michael has been handed a lucrative job in Bush's regime and after it is all over, Powell will retire, write a book telling us all how he fought to maintain stability and blah blah blah.

I will never buy a book written by Powell. He is as much as phoney as his massa Bush. He has amassed a fortune so far and can retire in comfort and I suspect he sips an expensive brandy in the evening by the fire, contemplating how he will retire with all the dignity, the false dignity, he will demand be given to him.

16. Yes
That did it for me as well.

The lives that might have been saved had he put integrity and the good of humanity before his selfish political career.

I have no more respect for him than I do the lying, oilpig warmongers bush/cheney/rice/rummy/wolfie/pearl etc. He has slept with the traitorous criminals, and is no better than any of them. The blood of thousands are on their greedy hands - powell included, fully and completely.

24. cant take him seriously anymore
I watched the Sunday program also---and from moment one, couldn't even consider taking whatever he said seriously----he has lost credibility completely----the only think you can try to keep count of when he talks now, are how many lies he can tell in half an hour....

12. He's a manwhore. Look what a great job it got his son.
He'll be in the history books. Especially in the black history books. And he knows, simply because he's the first black Secretary of State, the history books will ignore his flaws and trumpet his virtues. And never make mention of his craven ass-kissing.

The Republicans have been very very good to the Powells.

13. He's an extremely well-spoken and intelligent whore
for the junta.

Look what he has done....gone before the UN and humiliated my country before the entire world and had hundreds of our citizens killed and thousands maimed and tens of thousands of Iraqi's killed and billions of our treasury squandered for absolutely nothing.

That, to me, is not a pretty picture.

That nice looking whore of yours is the picture of death and destruction to me.

14. Just following orders.
that was many of the Nazi war criminals excuse. It won't be tolerated or will it? Colon has sold out his soul during his entire career. He merely presented himself well. He's merely another lacky to the system. Yeah, the history books will probably whitewash him as a dignified black American. Most blacks repudiate him. Same with Ms Rice. The Colon and Condi show just don't sell to anyone that is half way payin' attention.

17. I do not think he is well spoken--I think he has memorized and practiced
the act and the behavior of one who wants to appear to be intelligent, concerned and talented. He is none of that. But he has managed to assume that personna--he is well practiced and as phoney as a two dollar bill.

21. I'm with your wife on this one. He is without a doubt one of the Neocons
It's just that his role as the moderate is confusing you. It's his job to play the moderate to make it appear as though there is a shred of sanity among the mob. Same role McCain plays. They are fully into the GOP agenda of world control by the rich through military might.
They are nuts.

22. I once thought he was a moderate who
was trying to control the worst excesses of the chimp regime from the inside. I realize sometime ago that I was wrong, at best he is an enabler who sold himself out, at worst he is a true believer. :puke:

The dude has been a kiss-ass-to-Authority since Vietnam. Thank God for Alma POWELL, who has kept him from running for whatever. So far.
