thoughts about dean
I don't have total recall about this, but, it seems to me that during the eight years of persecution, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and their employees endured, there were few books written in support of them that were published, compared to the many that found publication by the GOP. It seems to me that Terry Mc Aulliffe had a lower profile than The Dead Sea. It seems to me, that I saw nothing done, no effort made, no spokesperson for the defense of the Clintons.

Whereas: Terry McAullife did nada to promote the democrats.
Whereas: Terry McAullife did nada to promote publications in support of democrats.
Whereas: Terry McAullife was busy building a building rather than an active party.
Whereas: Terry McAullife seems to me to be a worthless piece of excrement.

I advocate the support of Howard Dean/and/or Joe Trippi, to be named new Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Whatever Howard Dean and Joe Trippi did, it woke up the democrats from their long hibernation, and gave us hope, for the first time in years.

McAulliffe let us die.

1. Terry McAullife wasn't the head of the DNC during the Clinton admin

he simply was by all accounts, a great fundraiser for the Democratic Party.

7. There were four.
David Wilhelm - 1993-1994
Chris Dodd - 1995-1996
Steven Grossman - 1996-1999
Joe Andrew - 1999-2001

11. Pardon me.
I thought Terry McJerkoff was a Clinton appointee. I can look it up, As can you.

Terry may be a helluva fund raiser, I am sure he knows all the appropriate rich people.

But he has done absolutely nothing to instill hope in the grass roots, desperately needful of representation, as in the unions, the poor, the elderly, the non-fundamentalists, the minorities, the disabled, the writers espousing democratic party principles, the disdained intellectuals (those who listen to NPR and get the word of mouth from those who are there, not translated by our Right wing dingbat controlled media sound bites.) Raise money, YES. So can Cheney and Bush. Raise from the dead soil of democrats in hopelessness, McAulliffe cannot do. Dean can. If you don't like Trippi, too bad.

It only matters that the Dean campaign gave us hope and the will to fight, and to think we matter, for the first time in years.

We do not, in my opinion, need a "money" oriented person in charge of the DNC. We need someone who will make us get off our subjective, servile, hopeless behinds and VOTE with hope.

There is no doubt about that.

4. I'm no fan of McAuliffe's
but how has Trippi done any better? Or even Dean, for that matter?

6. Hmmm ....
I might agree but having worked locally on a Dean Meetup group, and seeing the lack of organization, direction, resources and/or leadership that came from Trippi when it was sorely needed, I have to say he's definitely not equipped to run something as big as the DNC.

There's a role for him in the 'new DNC', sure ... but not as the Chair, IMO.

Dean ? Now that's an interesting proposition.

8. I think Dean should stay active in Vt and run for Jefford's
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 09:52 PM by Kahuna
senate seat in '06. Jefford's has already said that he will not run for reelection.

If Dean wants to really change things in D.C., the senate would give him a good opportunity to do so.

9. Agreed Mc Aulliffe lost a lot of ground
So I hope we have learned, that standing for what is right rather than what will win over a swing vote is how you breathe life back into a moribund party.

Um, we have learned that, haven't we?

10. "I'll tell you how we're going to beat George Bush"
Develop nonvoters that have felt disinterested or disenfranchised. I have seen little of that from the recent Democratic party. By the way, that is the Paul Wellstone theory.
