Hey, the Bush bu**lickers at FR are posting one of our posts!
We should be flattered. This one is about the Spanish bombings; as ever, Son of God George W. Bush is beyond all criticism, even by those in other nations. Well, if they get a second Bush term, they will no doubt worship at his altar and silence the rest of us. (Sounds like a certain nation in the 1930s in a certain region of mid-Europe, doesn't it?) Anyway, here goes: The FReepers about DU:

4. Thanks for going over, and yeah, it is a waste of time.
Dunno why I posted, but what the hey. Another Saturday night for an old guy, so forgive me. I do think there is value, though, in looking at what the Bush stooges are thinking. The FR types are every bit as much victimized by the Bush Administration as are the rest of us, so I check out their slavish thinking. Hi back to you, Catwoman, and my best wishes for an early spring.

6. Lookit this one -- it's at the bottom
-snip-

If that is the case isn't that just proof that they were in cahoots with SH?

No. They don't care about defending Saddam (they wanted his regime to fall); they want to replace him. They are in some ways glad America invaded: they want to use that as a rallying cry to lead likeminded Muslims to battle against us in a terrorist war, which they think we will lose, which will put them in control of Muslim lands and then the world. They're crazy, but the ultra-religious terrorists weren't in cahoots with Saddam Hussein.

-snip-

------------------

How's that for logical thinking?

7. Do freepers live in an alternate reality?
Where everything outside of their reality appear reversed (and maybe upside-down)? How else to explain that they think DUers think Bush is responsible for the Madrid bombings? Looking over the thread in question, it seems 90% of the posters said no way, and the other 10% are perhaps tin-foil hatters (yes, we have more than a few) who aren't willing to not consider the possiblity quite yet.

I really think very few of them looked at the thread.

I don't put anything past the Fraudministration, and I think it's stupid not to. They wouldn't be in power if more people were less inclined to take things at face value.

I dunno, maybe I have an advantage because I was scammed and nearly ruined by a psychopathic con man. Now I have no problem spotting them. It doesn't make me a tinfoil hatter.

9. three thoughts about this
1. The poster who believed Bush is to blame for what happened in Madrid needs to be watched by orderlies 24/7.

2. The posters at Free Republic are just as mentally deranged as anyone who claims that Bush had something to do with this.

3. How is constantly comparing the right to the Nazis any different than Ann Coulter constantly referring to us on the left as "traitors"? Am I crazy for believing we can do a little better than the intellectually lazy (and not to mention dishonest) comparison?

10. Wow, let's be disrespectful
And while you're at it, explain why you're so confident he had nothing to do with it. And remember you're going to have to be extra super persuasive, considering you're talking about someone who sends other people's kids off to die in some hellhole for his own personal gain, who has done nothing but capitalize on terrorism for the last two and a half years.

12. Can you explain what a "neo-progressive" is? A new one for me.
I don't compare the Right generally to the Nazis; I compare the Bush Administration to them, and their insatiable quest for absolute power. Reagan, Nixon - pikers. Never felt this way before, but
there are reasons. So, make your point, and educate me - but be forewarned, a real history buff and non-tinfoilist here who thinks the Bush Administration is the greatest danger to this nation since the Civil War. OK, that said, go ahead, and thanks for posting.

13. Someone who believes in social progress
and intellectual honesty/maturity. Now to the intellectual honesty part: find in my post where Bush is mentioned, please. The original poster alluded (though it was about as subtle as a gunshot to the face) to conservatives being Nazis. I said it's obviously not possible to talk about the right without bringing the Nazis into this. It annoys me because it's an incredibly lazy and immature comparison. It annoys me because I have family who were put into forced labor camps (both my biological grandfathers) at young ages by the Nazis. Until I see this happening, I'll continue pointing out the stupidity in making such a claim.

Also, find where I post that Bush isn't the problem. Please. I call the original poster who claimed Bush/Rove were to blame for Madrid sick. I call Freepers just as deranged. I say that comparing the right to nazis, as this thread's creator did, is lazy and immature and no better than Ann Coulter.

16. Uh-oh. Problem here: I was the original poster.
I do not believe that conservatives are Nazis, and apologize for any allusion comparing Bush to the genocide that was the Holocaust. I also do not believe the Bush Administration is conservative, in any sense, but a radical power grab and restructuring of this nation on a permanent basis. I do compare this Administration to the attempts to seek complete power that characterized the Nazis as they rose to power and achieved it in 1933. I make no apologies for that. Didn't say anything about blaming Bush for Madrid; merely noted the post. I am not a tinfoilist. Lazy and immature? Not here, my friend: Can recite chapter and verse from "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" and have read "Explaining Hitler" by Ron Rosenbaum three times. I do believe that, politically, the quest for ultimate power by this administration is not dissimilar to the Nazis; the ideology is not the same, though, of course. My post may have been insensitive, and for that I apologize; for the wake up call, I do not. We make a grave mistake by lumping in the Right and conservatives of all stripes with the Bush Administration; they may be useful dupes, but they will ultimately be victims. That is much like the useful dupes at the end of the Weimar Republic. Your turn.

20. Thanks. Great minds think alike.
Power for its own sake. Barry was right. This is something New that we have not seen in American politics - ideology is second to raw power and control. A "second" Bush term will eradicate 230 years of American striving, warts and all, for what Lincoln called "the last, best hope of Earth." I stand by my posts here.

29. May I add a comment, after reflection, about corporatist history
Forgot to add last night that Hitler and the National Socialists were no "socialists" at all. Those who actually believed in the socialism part were drummed out of the party very early on. Hitler moved to ingrate himself with the Krupps and other corporate leaders, also very early on, and they were absolutely critical to his rise to the chancellorship. Nazi doctrine held that the owners and managers made all decisions for the workers; unions were banned (violently and immediately upon Hitler taking power) and replaced by the Labor Front, a Nazi organization headed by the alcoholic sybarite Robert Ley. Most workers were grateful for a job, and accepted being little more than serfs (you could not change jobs; vacations were cheap, though). The parallels are striking on this aspect of Hitler's consolidation of power. Check out the Bush fundraisers. He has made similar promises to accumulate a vast war chest. The payoff? The unions and worker rights will have a bullseye on them in a second Bush term. Their destruction will be a priority (one of many in an ambitious agenda). Don't tell me there are no parallels here.

Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 11:15 PM by JohnOneillsMemory
that was them in response to one of our threads that was characterized as saying Bush* was responsible for the Madrid bombing. No wonder.

Still, I don't like to see epithets like 'repuke' used to reference all Republicans. Blanket condemnation of either freepers or du-ers is dehumanizing and inaccurate.

While I have a low opinion of how informed most Americans are, I also know that it is because we are raised in a matrix of nationalistic lies and live in a lie matrix that only some of us see beyond.

That means that most Americans aren't cruel, just misled. As in 'forgive them, they know not what they do.'

That said, unlike another post above, I think that Nazi propensities have a threshhold lower than watching your relatives being taken away to camps. Here's a repeat of my response to a thread about 'American arrogance':
>>>>>>>>>>
"Americans don't know what the Bill of Rights is or why it is an important protection against tyranny.
They don't know history, geography, civics, science, or politics.

Around 50% still think Bush* is trustworthy! Given that everything he's said publicly for years has been a lie, why is this?

Perhaps because Americans have been raised to believe that they:
1) live in a democracy.
2) compete in free markets.
3) share equal opportunity for all.
4) see their government spreading democracy and protecting the innocent around the world.
5) inherited the status of Best in Show Among Humans in 1776, 1945, 1991 and 2003 by winning the Revolutionary War, WWII, and both Iraq Wars I and II.

These are all lies taught to American children in school and then reinforced every day in movies and on TV for the rest of their lives. There is a well defined historical narrative that describes America as the strongest and most virtuous moral force in the world ever. So surely the President of these United States must embody all that is good about our country.

I call this Superman-Jesus-in-a-Cowboy-Hat Syndrome. Ronald Reagan fit this movie-role-as-national-identity perfectly for many Americans who didn't realize that he was a senile figurehead for a cabal of murderers who successfully portrayed the poor as lazy thieves and secretly armed terrorists against foreign governments in the name of democracy and freedom.

Here is how Americans have been led down the path to a Master Race group-think that accepts as both inevitable and just that domestic policy should be eugenics and foreign policy, imperialism:

Ever since the US lost the Vietnam War, the social atmosphere here has been very similar to post-WWI Germany. The hyper-nationalist German people were told in the summer of 1918 that they were winning World War I. But in the fall, they were suddenly informed that they had lost. They were stunned and angry as the victorious Allies raped them economically and their orderly society imploded into chaos. They looked around to find who among them had betrayed them and robbed them of their much-deserved victory over their inferiors. They demonized, assaulted, and killed Jews, labor unionists, socialists, Gypsys, and homosexuals.

The same thing happened in the US after Nixon was disgraced and the Vietnam War was revealed to be a quagmire of atrocities which had also ruined the economy. The Republicans have cleverly exploited this petulant atmosphere of entitlement denied to bring us to where we are today, mired in a culture war against liberals, feminists, blacks, homosexuals, and dangerous Middle Eastern foreigners, pretty much the same targets as the Nazis.

Ever wonder why 'liberal' became a swear word? Now you know. It is the GOP power structure’s synonym for ‘Jew.’

In fact, there is a name for this late 20th century fascist movement brought into the early 21st century: Dominionism.
It is an alliance between Christian fundamentalists, Cold Warrior Fascists, and the Military Industrial Oil Complex, just like the rise of the German Nazis who, by remarkable coincidence, were also financed and supplied in their day by many US corporations, including George W. Bush's financier grandfather, Prescott Bush.

It all rather makes sense, doesn't it? Military and financial powers work hand in hand to reinforce and protect each other by keeping people starving and fighting each other over worthless things like flags and uniforms. Meanwhile, the powerful swell up like ticks on the blood of the people they fool into doing the fighting and reward them with not much more than parades, plaques, and brass bands.

Some Americans see through this and have evolved past nationalism and racism but lately it seems that a majority have not. And there is an alliance of media corporateers and fascist politicians who are determined to prevent Americans from finding out how this scam works. If you have figured out anything about life in America, consider sharing it with your fellow Americans so we can all evolve a little faster."

Posting wild theories that Bush was behind the Madrid that aren't based on a shred of evidence is crazy and doesn't make DU look good.

Of course when the shoe was on the other foot the freeper types were blaming Clinton for anything and every thing. But I don't see how accusing Bush of doing this is any different from the "Hilary murdered Vince Foster" lunacy that the right spews.

Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 11:57 PM by nu_duer
I could not read the entire thread - I could feel my brain beginning to melt.

What really gets me is the absolute intolerance of anyone who dares question the almighty gwbush. Or the facts of 9*11 vs. the bush story. Hell, their moronic leader said he saw the first plane slam into the WTC on TV while waiting to read a book to little kids. He said it twice. It cannot have been true - there was no broadcast of the first plane hitting the WTC until an amateur film was broadcast the next day. Do you think a thread simply stating that fact would be allowed to exist at "FREE" republic? Hell no - they're a bunch of automatons who'd sell their souls for dog shit with an American flag sticking from it if g.w.flightsuit said it would make them patriotic.

My God, the self-important, egotistical, intolerant bullshit they bathe in over there is mind-boggling. The hypocrisy is suffocating. They're still defending invading Iraq!!!!!! Where the fuck are the WMDS BUSH SAID WERE THERE, morons??? Why the hell aren't YOU over their dying for his evil lies instead of our college kids who thought their weekend a month was a smart move?

Disgusting jerks. If that's being American - - - that IS NOT AMERICAN! Fuck them. I will not let cowardly, dope-addict worshipping dittoheads define what being American is.

URRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I take GREAT solace in knowing there are far more TRUE patriots than those imposters who stew in their hatred for all who do not worship a lying, murderous, awol coward as a hero. Hell - he didn't even SEE NY in person for DAYS after the "attacks."

I hope the puppets over there see this post, I wrote a lot of it for them. And to vent.

God, makes you wonder to what extent inbreeding has progressed in this country, doesn't it?

ok - done - thanx.

28. I don't see why they deserve respect
I seem to remember at times that some on DU tend to argue that we should make sure we clean house first before talking about Freepers, but I don't see why.
We are not like them. They are a hate site. Period. Want proof? Why do so many of the posts on FR end up talking about "carpet-heads"? It's a hate term for Arabic people. We say a lot of things about FR, and they say a lot of things about us, but in both cases it's about what people think and say. When you start spewing terms about someone's heritage, or about a group they belong to, it becomes bigotry.
Far too often they cross over from criticism to bigotry, and it doesn't matter how much they talk about the "hate" at DU. When they do that they are bigots by definition, and unworthy of respect.
