2. hot air leaves the ballon
if your playing the market move to non cyclical consumer goods like PG JNJ. These are typical safe havens for troubled times.

8. However, with people predicting a "correction"...
...and selling off stock in anticipation they are actully bringing it along faster, and may cause it to be a much bigger "correction" than it should ahve been. Time will tell though.

14. as you say this is predicted
I hear that the heavier hitters are just locking profits before buying back as 1st quarter results come in. Results are expected to be good.

9. stock market ups and downs
It's called the business cycle. Try an economics course. As long as it goes up in the long run we'll all be fine.

16. no this is the beginning of the end of the so-called "bush boom"
not that there ever was one - it was always an illusion, a mirage built out of lies...

10. The markets dip on bad news.
Last week it was the disappointing jobs report for February that was only one-eighth of expectations. Today it was the increase in the trade deficit. The last dip on the DOW that was similar to todays 160 point drop was in October 2003. Unemployment numbers come out tomorrow.

11. It's the last thing Bush needs, and that's good enough for me.
I don't own any stock. And Democrats are allowed to indulge in Schadenfreude, right?

12. Piehole effect
Former Governor Bush* gave a speech on the economy. Stock market goes down, its a fairly reliable phenomenon.

This time he was pretending to care about people whose jobs have been exported. He was not very convincing. At the same time he also seemed to think that outsourcing was a good thing for the economy. :eyes:

17. The chickens are coming home to roost?
I think the Bush regime has been keeping the economy on life support and doing everything they can to keep the stock market pumped up despite the economy being in the crapper. It can only be kept up for just so long.

Well, I may lose some money, but if it helps get W out of the White House, it will have been worth it.
